I'm with the majority here - I have a desk chair, no arms, rolls & swivels. The Dr told me however to not get into the habit of rolling to the cutting table, sewing machine...Said it is very hard on the back (& I agree). Plus, all the ergonomics specialists will tell you to get up & move around often. For those of us w/RA it's important so we don't stiffen up so much with the repetition of lots of sewing. I also have the same type chair where I sew w/friends & former employees. We rented a space for the longarm big enough for the cutting table we had in the store & 6 additional sewing tables for our sewing days. Three machines stay there all the time, & 2 women generally leave one of theirs there - (indefinitely! :) It's a great place, nice & big, open, lots of high windows & light. I haven't gotten to sew much there lately since I hav kids 4 days out of 5. Neat that you asked for opinions:) - I will remember to do the same when I'm in a decision-making dilemma~

I really liked off white when choosing my first living room furniture( I still do) so I went with off white leather when my kids were very young. I was very afraid to go that light but it being leather helped a lot)) I suspect it'll be higher than your budget, but it gave me possibity to use the color I was really drawn to-and I still have these armchairs, almost twenty years after (frankly reupholstery should happen already). I wonder though if nowaday quality will be the same, for an affordable price. I agree that microfiber can be amazingly easily cleaned as well-and will be much cheaper. I mean cheaper than many other fabrics So both leather and microfiber will give you option to go cream, if that's what you love Slipcover is great idea as well of course. Another option of course is blue, like suggested above...I also love all sorts of ambers and marigolds with cream and indigo. Don't shy away from color in sofas, it's easier to incorporate in all sorts of rooms, easier than it seems, honestly. Just make sure it's the color you really like.

@JustMe Here is a rough drawing with dimensions of the office. My desk is on the longest wall. The window at the bottom of the drawing. My desk is about 72" and I've been seriously thinking of getting a different wood desk top that is smaller at about 63" to fit on that wall space next to the door. Something like a mesquite desktop or something. My desk is a standing desk so I'll be keeping the black base. The reason why I didn't put my desk against the window is mainly because of the giant monitor that is on an arm that wouldn't let me look outside anyways but I'm open to options. I do really think that my desk is way to big though. Also, the closet(which is at the bottom left of the picture in case its hard to tell has built in bookshelves. Although shelve space is always good, I've been looking at tons of wall shelves to utilize the vertical space more. I also added some more offices I liked to my profile. I'm a big fan of the contrasting natural colors and I want to incorporate live plants and such as well.

Please post a photo of the room the sofa will go in plus a photo of one of the dining room leather chairs. Also, how close to the dining room will the sofa be?
