paint for home office with red couch
Comments (8)Haven't you heard? Red is the new neutral! Really, so many colors work with red and if you are heading in a more contemporary direction (and it sounds like you are) you can be pretty daring in your choices. What kind of red is the sofa? Teak tends to have an orange cast as it ages so if your sofa is a warm red as opposed to a blue based or cool red, then I'd continue in the warm direction. Pick up a pain chip that matches your red sofa and start playing with other chips - see what catches your eye. BTW - my niece just did her basement play room with the FLOR carpet tiles when they hauled out the wall to wall carpet after a flood. She loves it and if they ever get water again, they can be taken outside and hosed off. Fun product....See MoreHelp with plan for home office (pics)
Comments (17)DH and I both work from home about 25% of the time so we know intimately the challenges of home offices. :) Let me ask - the guest room behind the pocket door - do you ever use it as such, or is it just staged that way? If you don't use it as such, I would turn that space into the office proper, and use the landing area for a sitting room. Here are your wishes, and what I would do: -- a desk to work at, with a comfortable desk chair You can combine this and the third item with a desk that incorporates a filing cabinet drawer like . Alternately, you can repurpose a large filing cabinet as a printer stand and/or pictures, like . -- space for a printer As mentioned above - can go on either a desk or filing cabinet. I would not suggest the desk. They do take a good chunk of space, and most printers create a lot of side-to-side sway as they print (especially if you do a lot of color/art printing, which I do) which can make it hard to use the desk for other things at the same time. -- storage for a large amount of household papers -- financial, medical, etc. See previous for integrated or separate file cabinet. -- storage for office supplies (paper, pens, stapler, tape, etc) Easily held in desk drawer(s), or a repurposed portion of a file cabinet. -- a comfy chair for reading, or for someone else to sit in while I am at the desk If you can use the guest room for this, easy-peasy. If not, I would place a comfortable chair under the window and use it as such. I would not want my computer monitor directly in front of a window. Aesthetically, I hate blocking windows. Functionally, it will be VERY hard on your eyes to read a monitor with bright light and/or distraction immediately behind you. -- display for pictures of family and friends This can go anywhere, on the wall if nothing else....See MoreWe could really use your help with our home office
Comments (30)An update for y’all: So, I wasn’t quite ready to pull the trigger on painting the entire room blue, but I did go ahead and have custom bookshelves built and installed, in the same shade of blue. I figured I could paint the rest of the room afterwards, if I wanted to. Here’s that wall, just finished — I’m elated. The shelves are fully adjustable, so I can remove one if I want to hang a piece of artwork there. I purposely did not want any drawers or cabinets, just shelves....See MoreDecorating An . . . Office
Comments (65)Commercial office acoustics: When you go to a church, you feel religious. A lot of that has to do with church acoustics. Office acoustics impacts visitors' first impression a lot as well. People unconsciously expect to hear certain acoustic qualities in a professional office. This space, while has a lot of aesthetic potential , but hard walls, ceiling, and floor, ----- factory acoustics may or may not give a positive first impression to your clients. Only you can tell. Carpet and rugs are not effective for speech frequency improvement. The two large art canvases can be better if you have 3" thick fiberglass behind them. Have them hung near the conference table. Where you have the conference table may not be ideal. Low building, single glazed windows will have annoying outside noise infiltration. Also, a possibility of sound transmission from next door tenants thru air conditioning duct. Lack of speech privacy can be a deal breaker for some financial and legal clients. Consider white noise generator, if this is an issue. dcarch...See MoreRL Relocation LLC
