Flooring Decision with Pics of Samples in my Home Office
Comments (15)sippimom, That does help. Thanks for letting me know that the Amendoim floors are beautiful in person. I never saw them in person so I only have wood samples and pictures on the Internet versus I have seen Brazilian Cherry floors in one of the townhouses in my complex that were beautiful but there was no light in the room (only 2 lamps with 60 watt bulbs and the walls and furniture were very dark) so I could not tell if it would darken my home office that needs light. I also love Quartersawn White Oak and wonder if there is any quality engineered wood floors in this wood species and how a light floor would hold up to heal marks. Since many months have passed and my beige rug now is being cleaned every 3 weeks and is starting to never look clean, I am ready for any floor other than this beige rug so after my busy season, I must make a decision and go for it. When I have time, I will have to post pictures of my foyer areas that I ended up having a professional install Akoya Bone Porcelain Tile with Mushroom grout rather than the Rialto Beige tiles I was going to go with....See Morepaint for home office with red couch
Comments (8)Haven't you heard? Red is the new neutral! Really, so many colors work with red and if you are heading in a more contemporary direction (and it sounds like you are) you can be pretty daring in your choices. What kind of red is the sofa? Teak tends to have an orange cast as it ages so if your sofa is a warm red as opposed to a blue based or cool red, then I'd continue in the warm direction. Pick up a pain chip that matches your red sofa and start playing with other chips - see what catches your eye. BTW - my niece just did her basement play room with the FLOR carpet tiles when they hauled out the wall to wall carpet after a flood. She loves it and if they ever get water again, they can be taken outside and hosed off. Fun product....See MorePaint color for dark office with cherry desk?
Comments (31)Glad you like the suggestion(s). I have a similar color in my livingroom, Behr's War Muffin but it's a stronger gold and I ended up repainting two of our walls cream to help tone it down a bit. Now I love it but when I chose it, I new nothing about painting or color. I think having a more muted tone would have been my preference if I had known then what I do now. Lighting has so much to do with it too, if you paint a sample on your wall, the Oat may not be as muted as it seems on the card. This isn't our room, but it is a good representation of the Warm Muffin color. As for the drapes, I got the 2nd photo off of google images, the first one is from Pottery Barn. I love the idea of a printed drape. If you're leaning in that direction (or even a printed rug) I would first find the drapes or rug you want and then pull your wall color from them. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you end up choosing and how your project looks when it's done!...See MoreRounding out the contemporary/tropical bedroom/home office
Comments (2)This is just my opinion. I personally like a lot of colour so I’d probably change the duvet colour for some lush tropical print but I get the idea behind the white so it’s fine. Laundry hamper: sorry, I think it’s hideous and really jars with what you’re trying to achieve. Toss it and replace it with baskets type hampers like these or similar. I quite like the bar cart and think it works well with your tropical/Indian theme. Marble does not and neither do those thin pointy legs on the tables you like. Something like the bar cart in style but smaller would work. At the same time I’d move the lamp stand to the corner between the bar stand and the side wall. It’s a cool lamp but where it is gives the impression of a vulture overhanging the bed. For bedside lamps something with a shade similar to the main lamp would look “together”. The round mirror is the wrong size/shape for over the bed. If you want something over the bed (why a mirror?) I’d go for a long rectangular print you like, or move the print you already have there and put the mirror between the two doors where the print currently is. Or you could put your full length mirror there. I’m not sold on the idea of having all the artwork at the same height but matching frames would pull it all together. I think the frame you have on the Daybreak print works well so I’d go with that. You could change the chair for something similar in a tan/gold I think. Plant stands are a good idea but the ones you have chosen don’t work with your theme IMO. Something more like these in a lighter wood is more tropical/Indian I think. Put the plants in brass pots like this. I think the main issue I have with the things you have chosen is that they are more Swedish minimalist than tropical which is a bit more lush. You need to decide which it is that you really want....See MoreRelated Professionals
