Comments (12)Wow adobesunlight, very inspiring. My mom has a lot of "stuff" and I tend to be that way at times too. My MIL was the complete opposite, everything was very simple and clean. I find myself trying to be the happy medium in between, lol. Before my MIL died, she said to me, "Once you throw it out or give it away you will never think about it again." And you know what? I didn't want to hear it at the time, but she's right! Everytime I question getting rid of something (we are talking clutter here, not important stuff like photos etc.) I think to myself, will I ever think about (insert object here) again? 99% of the time the answer is no. Last night I had some major breakthroughs. I got both the kids rooms back to square one, folded all (and there was a ton) the clean laundry and put it away, and then I cleaned out all the toybins/toychest in the living room. We don't have a playroom, so part of the living room is a sort of a playroom. It was amazing how many toys I went through. I gave a bunch of them away to Goodwill, and the kids haven't even noticed! It is a great feeling to have all the toys organized and fitting neatly in their baskets. I tend to feel that the toys get out of control quickly, so I am working a bit harder on that. With the toys they don't play with weeded out, things will be easier to pick up as well. I have a new rule too: small toys or toys with lots of parts need to be kept in the bedrooms, not the living room. I think it will make everyone's lives easier. My next project is attacking the clutter that has accumulated on my bureau. I need to get the master bedroom a bit more organized, and more inviting and restful. Good luck to everyone making progress out there. This forum is always makes me feel better!...See MoreI had to start a new thread on HOME OFFICES!!
Comments (36)For anyone here chair shopping, you might find a really good brand secondhand. I'd be a little bit worried about authenticity, so see if your city has any authorized stores for that kind of thing. (Or check out Duckys.) A bit of warning: see if it's possible to rent or borrow any chair before buying, so you can test it out for a while. (or make sure there's a good return or exchange policy.) I hate to admit it, but I had the newest Aeron chair and didn't like it. I was going through a period of hip pain from tight flexors, and the bouncy mesh seat made it really hurt. I don't think there's anything wrong with the design, but it just wasn't right for me. it took several days to figure that out, the few minutes I spent in the showroom wasn't nearly enough to detect a problem. (my husband was more than happy to take it, thankfully we're about the same size. he really loves it.) Of course you can get a really decent ergonomic chair for less. There are some pretty ok looking ones out there. Maybe not as pretty as the WS Home posted above, but hey, it's an office chair. If you don't need any complicated adjustments, the pretty ones might be fine too. It just depends on your own needs. I strongly recommend something height adjustable no matter what though. You really want your forearms to be level with the desktop, or otherwise.... ouch....See MoreNew Thread - Jury Trials
Comments (44)Wow, this has gone off the rails. It really should be a simple question to answer. Please refer to the photo I posted, above, of the parking garage entrance. No other vehicles around, no pedestrians, no animals, no bad weather, etc. Driver with passengers enters the structure, with his attention on the center island to ensure he doesn't run into it. Once he knows he has cleared that structure, he accelerates to proceed into the structure but is oversteered to the right, doesn't correct the direction of his vehicle, and runs into the solid wall on the right-hand side, causing injuries to the occupants of the vehicle, and severe damage to the vehicle. At trial, he admits under oath that he wasn't paying attention to where his car was headed. So, given the "reasonable man theory" - in the same situation given the same set of circumstances, what would a reasonable man have done - would you, as a jury member, vote that the driver was negligent or not negligent? Would you think that the driver has a "duty" to pay attention and be in control of the vehicle and not crash into solid, immovable objects? And how is the above scenario showing any bias? They are undisputed facts introduced at trial through testimony....See MoreNew thread about random purchase of clothes UPDATE: Chico’s dress
Comments (122)I was my mom's ironer -- when I was young I loved the immediate transformation. I loved taking the time to get it just right. Now? not so much. I still love the result but I don't find the process all that zen or satisfying. I never thought of sending pieces out for just a press. I have a service that will pick up my dry cleaning-- haven't used it since pre-covid but you've sparked me to see if they'll provide the same service for pressing. I like the chico dress but I suspect I need something with a little more shape. I like this one from tuckernuck a little more for my shape (they just emailed me about it this am) .. but I am on a spending pause and I don't need it. :(...See Morerusty_blackhaw
