Kohler Dickinson apron-front sink vs. Rohl fireclay farmhouse
Comments (10)We have the Dickinson and have been very happy with it. But, Johnliu really did say it best. After drooling over the Rohl I realized I didn't want to shred my nerves over a sink or anything else anymore. I've seen 30 year old cast iron sinks that lived in households with 5 kids and they looked fine. DH all by himself can be the equivalent of 5 kids in the kitchen so I figured I was okay with the Dickinson. Bottom line, I guess, is "know thyself" (as well as the habits of others who will use the sink) and choose accordingly....See MoreFireclay vs. cast iron sink
Comments (7)Depends on the look and feel you are striving for. Do you want something that is handmade and feels awesome? Go with fireclay. Do you cook a lot with commercial and big pans and need durability? Go with cast iron. Both cast iron and fireclay chip. Bayareafrancy- I heard Rohl sells repair kits to easily repair chips? I am having the same problem choosing which sink. Every time I see the Rohl Shaw's sink I'm sold. It is GORGEOUS whereas the Kohler and cast iron sinks look cheap to me next to it. But, if it's in the house nobody will be able to compare it to the beautiful fireclay sinks..so..I'm about 60/40 towards cast iron....See MoreRohl Allia Fireclay sink or Franke fireclay sink?
Comments (25)@Deana I totally get It! I have my drying dish rack in my sink so it actually ended up working out better for me. I wash on the left, I also have a small tv under my left cabinet to watch while I’m washing dishes and I put the clean dishes to the right. I do have to take out the rack and rinse out the entire sink since food does stay under the dish rack (which rests on top of the grid) but it’s not a big deal at all. It is also convenient having the drain on the side when I wash my dishes that have touched raw meat. Im a nut job when it comes to cross contamination so it worked out wonderfully. The grid also helped with that because the dish rack is resting on top and I carefully pour out the raw juices through the drain hole and no dirty water touches the grid/dish rack/dishes. Love everything about it. My sister has had the single bowl Franke for a few years now and she loves it! Have you seen the Rohl and the Franke in person? My husband and I made our decision after seeing them in person. Sales person said we can’t go wrong with either one but the look and feel of the Rohl definitely won us over....See MoreHairline cracks in Kohler cast iron kitchen sink
Comments (71)I noticed a crack in the front corner of our (less than) 6 month Kohler Whitehaven sink. Immediately a pit in my stomach! This sink was installed on 11/14/22. We spent a pretty penny remodeling our very dated kitchen and are thrilled with how it looks. We contacted Kohler whowhichwhowhowhichwho said they will replace sink. We are waiting to talk to someone about cost associated with reinstalling a new sink to replace a defective sink. Ours is undermount and don't feel as though we should be on the hook for this expense. Anxious to hear back from Kohler. If their product wasn't defective we wouldn't be needing to discuss cost associated with this repair....See MoreUser
