Should I re-use my SS sink?
Comments (7)the instant hot is well worth it to me. indispensable in fact. it does stay working 24 hours but i did a lot of research and it really does not take that much electricity - i think i found out it averages about 30 - 50c a day depending on where you are and your electricity charges. i use it for cleaning all the time for pots etc, and f i want it for countertop or floor or similar i just put some cold water in the bucket first I love it for making pasta, soup boiled eggs etc. so i think that it is very personal. to cover up the extra holes you can get a plate i also love the pull down faucet and mine came with a soap dispenser, which i didn't use , and a plate...See MoreBuilders have not retuned my calls. Should I pursue?,
Comments (37)Thank you for all the replies. Lots of speculation, therefore, I called one of the builders. These builders, do everything from construction drawings, ( which I would like to have now ) to turnkey build. He apologized and stated, he thought he had replied to my email. He said, he is extremely busy and we have lots of time. He added that he has a few people who also have similar time lines, he is now fully booked for the next year. So we are definitely not too early. At this stage, I would like a very rough estimate of build costs. Also, We want to get the construction drawings which will allow us to get a permit. Permits are good for 5 years. The value of getting a permit now is to save $. I understand that permits went up 5k last year, which is a lot of $$$. And of course, our infamous city tends to raise prices whenever and wherever possible, we won't go into astronomical property taxes either lol. I thought that having a builder recommend a draftsman was the best way to proceed. But I may now go in a different direction and get one on my own. another point, we were thinking of putting in the sceptic, power and well this summer. The builder advised against this, stating it should all be done at the same time. He provided valid explanation as to why. So again, how does one know what they don't know. Mayb another builder will have different view points as well. The question thus remains, am I too early to be making contact?...See MoreWhat direction should I install my flooring? (bent shape house)
Comments (8)I have a hearth room off of our kitchen, we use it for our kitchen table, and it's off at a weird angle to the rest of the house. Our area is more open than your hallways situation, and from one perspective the floors look laid straight and the walls look angled, and from another perspective the walls look straight and the floors look diagonal. I recall that the diagonal floors initially made me take a second look... felt off initially as we didn't lay these floors, they were like that when we bought the house... but I grew accustomed to it rather quickly and I even appreciate the diagonal direction now. It's unique. I think the fact that it's a large enough space to pull it off helps, a skinny hallway might feel a little overwhelming with a diagonal direction. So for that reason, I'm more drawn to your second option. I'll include two photos of my space from different directions. But I also think just changing the direction at the hallway could be a very viable option as well....See MoreWhat type of flooring should I install in my master bathroom?
Comments (4)are you keeping the gold around the shower doors? If so, I'd pick something different. (is that a porcelain or a real travertine?) The tile itself is nice, but paired w/your square tile, it's really not the right look. Your white tile w/the beige grout, and your gold shower doors, just doesn't work w/the tile. both of those are warm, the tile is cool. something like this warmer terrazzo looking tile would look much better w/the gold and your tiles Tilebar has a similar tile to the gray one you like called Sandstone. And it's on sale. it's 24x24 this color (and you can order a sample) looks much better w/your bathroom elements. It's shown on the wall in this pic. they have a 12x24 size too. they have one in this color too. https://www.tilebar.com/basic-sandstone-beige-24x24-matte-porcelain-tile.html this basic Limestone look porcelain is also on clearance. https://www.tilebar.com/basic-limestone-silver-12x24-matte-porcelain-tile.html all on Tilebar.com what about something darker like this 10x10 hex? 4x16 black slate (they have similar in porcelain) done in a herringbone. do you have an oak or wood vanity? this terra cotta color in the hex would look nice w/the gold and any wood Floor and Decor has this White wood look tile. All you're doing is replacing the carpeting? nothing else is getting done in here? is this a second floor? To put down tile, the substrate needs to be changed to support the tile, and keep it from flexing. So that will be extra cost, depending on what you have. If you're on a cement slab, it's fine...See Moreglennsfc
