Does anyone have an 'easy reach' cabinet?
Comments (16)We have a problem with scratching too, but it's because the screw that holds the handle is rough and if we don't fold the center fold of the door first, it hits the neighboring cabinet. I love my corner lazy susan cabs by the way (we used to have deep dark unreachable spaces in the corners) and have 3 now, 2 lower and 1 upper. Everything has been mostly done for 2 weeks but we are waiting for our GC to come in to do all the last 1% of the job so we can call it a FINISHED kitchen! I was going to ask him to cover those screw backs with something - any suggestions? The little bumpers (look like silicon?) that keep the cupboard doors from slamming don't extend far enough to protect from scratching....See More'easy reach' upper corner cabinet
Comments (14)I have the easy reach hinged door cabinet and love it. It has been in for 1 1/2 years and I still think it was one of the most functional things we added to the kitchen (previously blind corner upper). I keep a lot of bulky items in there - the corner will actually accommodate some larger bowls that are too big for the standard uppers - and access is always easy. I will say that recently I was in a hurry and didn't get the hinged door folded enough before closing and the door knocked into the adjacent cabinet. There is now a small nick on the cabinet where the back of the door handle hardware hit the adjacent cabinet. Countersinking the door handle hardware or adding a small felt or rubber pad (my solution) would alleviate this, though....See MoreDonaleen ? about your corner uppers
Comments (5)My plan for that side of the kitchen was to put the coffee pot/toaster over there so the uppers would have coffee mugs, creamer, sugar and the like in them. Possibly some kid dishes over there as it's by the fridge. So I'm not sure how 'safe' it will be for me to reach over the mugs and grab anything really heavy. With the easy reach I was planning on sugar, flour, brown sugar and my baking stuff. I would not want that in a blind corner. angela-I could put my mixing bowls in there. I will need to re-think things. I have been intrigued by your ultracraft posts though. I am considering checking into those. But at some point I have to just make a choice and move on! robo-I laughed out loud at that. I am sure there will be a lot of things that want to find their way into the black hole. I was hoping to avoid black holes this time around! ;) may-Yes, I believe the doors there are 12". So it's a 24" cab with 2 12" doors that buts up to the corner then 24" MW shelf thingy then refrigerator. It's not snug shelf but not quite built in. Thanks for sharing your experiences, I appreciate it. :)...See MoreEasy Reach Upper Cabinet
Comments (7)I have a piano hinge base cabinet and am not a fan of them. Company invariably knocks the door into the adjacent cabinet, causing a scar on the finish. Handling it gently is a learned technique. Due to my dislike of piano hinges and overlap doors, I opted for a diagonal corner cabinet for the upper and lower in the other corner, with a Super Susan in both. These are a joy to operate and yield tons of storage. No regrets going against GW advice in my small kitchen. For me, this is one case of function over form....See More- 8 years ago
