Lesson(s) you've learned this year.
Comments (63)My lessons this year: 1. Just because you have the seeds, you don't have to start them. I was lucky and found homes for my extra 300 plants but it was touch and go for a bit. I still planted 50 plants and as I can, for the third weekend in a row, am seeing the error of my ways 2. Those cute little plants become giant mangled monsters so - don't over plant in small raised beds. They will get bigger - keep up on the pruning unless you want a tomato jungle - use better and more supports to keep the giants from falling over - write down what's planted where because sharpie will wash off sticks and the plants will grow big enough to hide the name sticks 3. Hail is horrible! My beautiful plants have looked beat up for three weeks now. 4. Chickens do not belong in the garden once the tomatoes begin to ripen... Unless you want them pre- tasted Already saving seeds and thinking about next season!!!...See MoreOriginal, Original Scent Tide powder + STPP
Comments (12)Alex, consider Tide Pro, its formulated a bit different than what we buy off the shelf. Its formulated to be near neutral PH in order for hotel laundry to hold up to daily washing, so it would be a good choice for a less caustic detergent yet still have great whitening properties. It does in fact have extra sodium percarbonate in it. So all in all it will whiten and be gentle at the same time. Le Blanc and Forever New are both boutique detergents, which I've never found to be anything more than perfumed water, but these two are actually good at what they are intended to do, clean the sheets gently, leaving them with a *finished* feel to them. If you do decide to try one, I'd suggest you try them first with no FS, I think you will be impressed with the silky smooth feel of the sheets. Also ment to say the Tide Pro has a near neutral PH where the Tide with Bleach powder off the shelf has a PH of about 11....See More"Food Grade" premium STPP arrived today
Comments (19)I didn't mean the STPP was less strong..just less of it in a tablespoon with the technical grade. 90% is a best case scenario. I'm not sure what the minimum amount would be for technical grade is, only that the 'impurities' are supposed to be by products of the manufacture..and of course I had to look up how they make it...and sounds like the impurities could be magnesium and silicon oxides from the source chemicals...See MoreI need to be, to the point with my contractors. Lesson learned!
Comments (14)I don't think it's a sexism thing either. You husband was there and therefore the project was discussed. Could have just as easily been the other way around. For the rest of the build I would stress the meeting time (sounds like this one started early, which is VERY odd..LOL), the importance of promptness and ALL participants. In our last build, along about the drywall stage I figured I had spent the better part of 8 hours waiting for people to show up at previously agreed upon times. 15 minutes one day, 5 minutes the next, 20 minutes the day after that, it all added up. It didn't bother me so much if I was working there other than I was brought up to believe promptness is a sign of respect but it REALLY bothered me when I came to the site for just the meeting and I'm cooling my heels for 20 minutes after a pre-agreed upon meeting time counting studs in the wall. So I started making a big deal about being prompt. Concluding a call with "OK. we're meeting at 10AM. Let's pretend you're catching a plane. Doors close and the plane pulls away from the gate at 10:01. Make sure you're on it" Well two things immediately happened. First, the on time arrival rate went from abysmal to nearly 100%. After my speech I couldn't be late of course so I'd typically arrive a few minutes early and nearly always the guy would be already there. And second, after hearing my speech everyone got real defensive with "That's great! I don't like to wait around either. 10AM it is!!!" That, and of course if I had to wait a half hour for the plumber it's a wash but if he has to spend the same amount of time on an "extra" it's on his invoice! So equal value is placed on time. So stress time AND participants when setting up a meeting. But the best of luck with your build. Exciting times coming up!...See Moredadoes
