Where to run range hood duct??! 3 pros 3 dif opinions!
Comments (4)I agree that you should opt for the shortest run. That's a no brainer. If an installer sees it differently, go to another one. I would also post your questions in the kitchen forum, because I think that readers pretty savvy about range hoods are more likely to give you constructive advice. Aside from keeping to the shortest possible run, the other basic recommendation is to minimize the number of turns and, to avoid sharp turns because they cut down on exhaust capacity. Good luck with your project....See MoreYour Opinion? Are Chimney style Range Hoods Trendy
Comments (5)I'm still sad that I couldn't get the SS chimney hood that I wanted, but the consolation is that I don't have to dust it. I had to hide an AC duct in the cabinet along with the range hood ducting, so the chimney had to get nixed. I don't see the point of trying to guess what is going to be trendy in the future. I just read in another thread that staggered cabinets look dated, and my sister just redid her kitchen that way last year and she loves it. I think it looks great, too. If someone isn't telling us what's in, what's out, and what's trendy and what's not, we'd never know the difference and we'd be happy with the things we pick because they are the things that WE LIKE. To me, the point is to enjoy it NOW, in the present....See MoreNew construction, opinions wanted for range hood and sink finish
Comments (10)Agree about moving the DW to the other side of the sink. The move gets the DW out of the way of the secondary Prep Zone b/w the sink and cooktop. While it's not as crucial as it would be if the only Prep Zone was b/w the sink and cooktop, it's still better design to keep the DW out of both Prep Zones. Disagree about moving the refrigerator. If you move it, the island becomes a barrier island b/w the island Prep Zone and the refrigerator. In addition, you would have to cross back & forth through the Cleanup Zone to get to the refrigerator. It will cost more for all drawers, but I strongly recommend them. Is that the Artesia door style? I love that door, especially the drawer fronts! I originally had selected it, but due to budget constraints I ended up with the Anson door. The Anson has the same drawer front as the Artesia and since I had more drawers than doors, it worked out fine. (I picked out a rather expensive counter and we had do a lot more work than anticipated on the infrastructure, so I had to cut somewhere - I changed the door style since I could still have my drawer fronts and the finish I really liked.) ETA: Looking closer at the elevations, it doesn't look like the Artesia door style....See MoreOpinions about which range hood?
Comments (3)I’m really loving the middle one, copper with stainless Steel accents- what do you think? Our appliances are slate. My cabinets are painted Galveston Grey by Benjamin Moore. Hardwood planks are 10.5 inch rustic select called Ravenna. Granite countertops are called Baltic tan, which we decided to keep. Still trying to decide on hardware. Would love some feedback (ps- I’ve already gone through the discussion of the countertop being warm and cabinets being on the cool spectrum even though I chose a neutral/warm grey paint...hubby not budging on new countertops so I’m pulling it all together and it will turn out fabulous!)...See Morejust_terrilynn
