Yeah! Looks like we have a winner. Thanks to everyone for their help. I don't think I would have arrived at this design without your suggestions and feedback. sc-kathy: I used the Visualizer from Wayne Dalton. Unlike some of the talented folks here, I have zero photoshop skills but this program was fairly easy and flexible. They have a little dropper tool that lets you use any color from your photo for the garage door. So, I was able to copy the color from our front door for the main panel of the door and use a color from the roof for the trim on the garage door. The other major garage companies have similar programs, but this one was the best and most flexible overall.

Lascatx, I definitely plan a major refresh on the landscaping next spring. When I had my lawn taken out in 2011 I had a landscape designer suggest plants and I went with all of them. Since then I removed 3 enormous phormiums and this and that. There are a few other plants I don't care for, so it will be time to rework some stuff. I do favor purple/magenta, white, and pops of gold/yellow, esp. against a gray house. When the poppies bloom in March/April, it's happy time. #3 now looks silly to me. Someone said it was like squinty eyes. I think the only way I could get away with not removing the angles of my garage opening would be to leave it all trim color. It doesn't look so cramped that way. I prefer the squared off door. I am planning to redo my outside lights, once the painting is done, maybe adding a couple on either side of the garage door. Plus house numbers. It's funny, thinking to minimize the presence of my prominent garage, but it's kinda hard to do when it's so, you know, prominent. I can't exactly hide it, so why not make it look nice?

I'm leaning towards a creamy white with black accents and wood-looking garage doors? Here's what's going on: - the roof has already been replaced and I went with a dark charcoal shingle. From the street you can't really see my roof - New Milgard French Doors were installed in the back. The exterior is black and somewhat modern - There are two big picture windows that are newish - they are white. Right now they are basic white. - there's no front porch and you can't see the front door to paint it a fun color. - there's not much architectural interest to the house. Will white be too bland? - the windows in the front don't have enough space to put shutters on Decisions I need to make: - exterior paint color - garage doors. It will probably be a couple years before I can afford new ones, but I want to paint my house with new ones in mind. - windows - black or white?
