"Oops!" from the last CT Swap ... this is not Delphinium

I can't remember who ripped up and bagged a Delphinium to give to me at the last CT Plant swap. Sorry.

My original suspicious that it was Monkshood/Aconitum and not a Delphinium are confirmed. Here it is blooming today along our fence next to a lovely Aster that I also took home that day. What a fun day that was!

Another view

This is a poisonous plant... obviously "deer proof" ... and quite striking in the fall garden.

I just wanted to pass this along to anyone who might not have known. So many plants from which medicines were originally derived are also poisonous, which I remember from a pharmacology course I took in college. I've grow many of them: Delphiniums, Aconitum, Narcissus, Tulips, Hellebores, Digitalis, etc.
