There is a huge lack-of-leadership vacuum in the anti-GMO movement as far as "this is the go-to trustworthy person/organization" that can separate the truth and real concerns from the half-truths, misconceptions, and straight out lies. When you hear something from multiple sources...most of which seem like they're in a position of power and truth to bring this information...it can be believable. Some issues, such as labeling (which I'm a fan of though my industry isn't), is rather cut-dry...but stuff like "Monsanto is going to sue farmers if pollen blows on their fields and force them to buy their seed" conspiracy stuff doesn't hold up...and is rather quickly debunked. The anti-GMO movement needs a strong leader (person or group) who actually has their fingers on the pulse of the industry rather than reactionary/late-coming news that they don't know how to properly weigh the quality of the information they're handling. It took almost a week for some of the more popular anti-GMO "alternative" news sites to discover the Oregon/GMO-wheat thing...it's been known in the industry for almost 2 weeks now, and those in tighter/localized circles for a month+. Even the "mainstream press" got a hold of the story 2-5 days before most activist organizations noticed it even existed. It wasn't hidden...they just don't have their fingers on the pulse of the industry. It doesn't take much...trade magazines...press releases...regulatory filings...court cases...marketing conferences...it's all right out there in the open if someone or some organization is willing to read, attend, and disseminate the information to the public at large. There is absolutely 0 reason for these organizations not to have know about the development of 2,4-D resistant GMO crops months to a year+ before they did...just as there is no reason for them to feed their activist base garbage like 2,4-D = Agent Orange because it gets them no where talking to a farmer, corporation, government, or regulatory agency....See MoreOff topic, but some may find it interesting
Comments (27)Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Still carrying on with the rationalizations and god delusions. Can you tell me of a single time when your man made god and angels were actually documented as showing up for work and performing said miracles? Please give specific examples such as CBS, NBC, ABC, the New York Times - businesses that are trusted sources. Not going to happen. There are plenty of tricks to claim your man made god helped surgeons and other medical professionals save someone life. Truth is that these people are highly trained and no such mythical being ever set foot in the operating room whatsoever. If so, it would have been documented, and it would have been a first. Why didn't your man made gods and angels help the Haitians, the people of Chile, the Samoans, the Indonesians, the people of Thailand, or any number of other places including here in the US? Quite simply, your man made gods can't. They don't exist. Ignoring the truth and continuing your god delusion isn't healthy for you nor anyone else around you. It is detrimental to everyone. Now, go mow some grass. You'll enjoy it much better. Rusty: I hear you dude! How about some Rocky Top just to get things going?...See MoreMy goodness, I wish our CL was like some of yours!
Comments (32)I had someone do that to me last summer. I was selling a new and unopened inflatable waterslide we had and was meeting the guy about 15 miles from home since he was from the next county over. Once he got there, he examined the unopened box, said he'd take it and put it in his truck. Then he proceeded to try and short me $50 because it was 'all he had' and it wasn't worth anymore than that anyway. This was a new waterslide that retailed or $300 I was selling or $150 and after confirming the price via e-mail and phone he tried to short me! He insisted he wasn't paying any more than $100 for it so I had him take it out of his truck and put it back in my van pronto! His 4 year old kid - who's birthday party it was for that afternoon! - was in tears and I felt very badly for him, but that money was earmarked for something for my own kids and I couldn't help that he had a real jerk for a Dad. Fortunately, I had 7 other people wanting the slide and sold it within the same hour to someone who wasn't a cheapskate....See MoreMy worst CL experience ever - I may never buy used again!
Comments (39)juddgirl2 - I have been on vacation and am now seeing this thread. Now I am traumatized by just reading it! Try putting a freshly cut apple in your sons desk drawers. Leave them inside for a few days. This little trick was giving to us by a car dealer to remove odors from cars. My daughters cat urinated on her back seat. We removed the seat cover and shampooed it, but the smell was still slightly detected. The apple worked, although my daughter forgot about it and it attracted fruit flies! segbrown - If you have the stomach, read my story about our outdoor grill. Beware...it is heart wrenching, but the grill lives on, even though it took several hose and dishwasher cleanings to be presentable for me to cook on. I wanted to get rid of it, but DH wouldn't hear of it. Here is a link that might be useful: The grill versus the birds...See MoreButternut
