I had heard that end of the world prediction date. But I did not know the reason...so that is interesting that the reason is all the planets aligning. I wonder if you hit a baseball toward all those planets in line would the gravity get you a home run?

I should of left the alignment out and the demise predictions of 2012. The Idea behind the post was to observe Planets in the sky and be able to identify them from stars. I guess I failed like a honest Policktision.

For us real star gazers (not old gezers) the real joy is seeing the Andromeda galaxy (M31) for the first time. Does anybody know how long it takes the light from M31 to reach the earth??? And that's after knowing where to look in the night sky. Now 90% of use have to use binock's due the the light the earth case around cities at night. I remember as a kid how much darker the night sky use to be which made the stars stand out. Few things to look for are the 7 sisters (not the little dipper as most of us think), summer triangle, the north star which all other stars seem to rotate around, most obvious is the big dipper. OK I'll shut-up!

About 2 million years transit time for light to travel from M31 to the eye of the viewer.
The Seven Sisters are also known as The Pleiades star cluster.
North Star is currently Polaris.
Summer Triangle stars are the three brightest stars in a trio of constellations. The individual stars are Deneb in Constellation Cygnus (The Swan), Vega in Constellation Lyra (the lyre stringed instrument, and Altair in Constellation Aquila (the Eagle).
I have followed astronomy since I was a kid.
I too, remember how the Milky Way seemed like a broad band of hazy fog across the clear night sky of southeast Tennessee.

The bible was also written when people thought the world was flat, and that the earth was the center of the universe. We've all found that to be false, and there are countless contradictions in the bible - both old testament and new testament.

BTW, the bible was written at a time when people would have thought the wheel barrow was a marvelous invention of new age technology.

Larso1, that is highly doubtful. I was a christian myself before I read the entire bible and all but one of the books mentioned in the bible. After that, and making numerous notes, I realized just how much of a lie it was and still is.

The former account is accurate. The latter account is due to the literary style of the early writer, being more of a reminder to Adam that the animals were created and it was time for the naming of the animals.

How many times did the cock(rooster) crow? How did Judas die? What was the color of the cloak that jesus wore during his trial? How many soldiers and horses did Soloman have? Was jesus crucified on a Friday or on a Saturday? How many people were at the gravesite when jesus was resurrected? Did jesus ascend to heaven? And it goes on and on and on and on.

There are countless numbers of contradictions in the bible.

There were two libraries in Egypt - one in Alexandria and I forget where the other one is for right now, that were filled beyond capacity with verified christian forgeries about a so called crucifiction too. Interesting how the end of that word contains "fiction" in it. Maybe there's more to the fiction part than people are willing to admit to.

Now then, let's get back to the garden tractor stuff.

BTW, there is absolutely no proof any gods, angels, hell, etc have ever existed. That is all man made stuff.

Every time I look into the eyes of my Grand Children I see proof there is a God. And I am not trying to argue, I am not a bible scholar. But I do believe.

Speaking of Amputees---i are one! I lost my left foot from a land mine explosioin, during WW II, in France! It didn't get blown off, but the other damage cut off the circulation, gangrene set in, and they had to take it off!
So, after that, i decided it wasn't going to grow back, God's interaction not withstanding, and they threw the foot in the dump, so i made the best of the situation. After my return home, i worked until i was 72, and never got any contact with God saying he'd make it grow back, if he could find the old foot! Of course, i didn't hold my breath------. And now, here i am at age of almost 86, still waiting for the word, but i don't have time to worry about it coming, so i just set back with my can of beer, scratch my wooden leg, and think about how good life has been so far! And about the mowers i have to fix tomorrow!

I watched a few minutes of the video and saw where it was going. It's not possible to argue a faith system, and I don't, but God has a few words for those with the clever arguments:

Can you tell me of a single time when your man made god and angels were actually documented as showing up for work and performing said miracles? Please give specific examples such as CBS, NBC, ABC, the New York Times - businesses that are trusted sources.

Not going to happen. There are plenty of tricks to claim your man made god helped surgeons and other medical professionals save someone life. Truth is that these people are highly trained and no such mythical being ever set foot in the operating room whatsoever. If so, it would have been documented, and it would have been a first.

Why didn't your man made gods and angels help the Haitians, the people of Chile, the Samoans, the Indonesians, the people of Thailand, or any number of other places including here in the US? Quite simply, your man made gods can't. They don't exist.

Ignoring the truth and continuing your god delusion isn't healthy for you nor anyone else around you. It is detrimental to everyone.

Yes, I've read the bible from cover to cover, starting at the beginning and reading every word, every sentence, etc. I've also read all but one of the other books mentioned in the bible.

When you put it all together, you know how much of a farce it is. It is convoluted, vile, contradictory and should be banned.
