I believe it's the opposite. More likely to have spotting on the nickel. Chrome is probably the most easy of all the materials to maintain.

I remember the days of old when chrome faucets were full of spots and for that reason, I'm out...out of the market for ever buying chrome! :) OTOH, my Jado brushed nickle bathroom faucet is lighter and brighter than a lot of brushed nickle I see and you really have to work at it if you want spots!

Another vote for chrome. Wipe with a dry cloth and it gleams.

Chrome can take so many chemicals (car bumpers used to be chrome and they still make chrome wheels. Brushed nickel rims??? No.) If you have hard water, a light solution of vinegar or bathroom cleaners will take away the spots. I have had both, and the sparkle of chrome wins. I think people went for other finishes because chrome was IT for hundreds of years and folks wanted something new and different. That is why I have brushed chrome in my kitchen. Hard water is hard water and if it sits it evaporates and leaves a residue. Don't let it sit, OR get something that you can use some cleaners on to make them look like new. Chrome. The problem with other finishes is that often they won't match if you mix manufacturers. Chrome always looks like, well, chrome.

Well poo! Out voted again <g> I still love my brushed nickle altho none of our faucets (Venetian bronze or brushed nickle) have water spots or grunge problems because we have Tapmasters on all the sinks in the house. I DON'T care for the darker brushed nickle I've seen and I've seen those look not too good. I'm sure redraider will love whatever s/he chooses :)

Well believe or not the fixtures are so $$$ in the brushed Nickle I was shocked. I have oil rub bronze in my perm home With no problems of spots. And I honestly was going for the brushed nickle and somehow this chrome has got my eye since it will have a coastal setting. So I guess I thought I will try the chrome . While I'm crossing my fingers and toes :) faucets / showers have really gone up in price. Those remodeling shows are killing us ! well I picked Kohler Bancroft K-T10577-4-CP. faucet. And K-T10581-4-CP shower head/ tub faucet for one bathroom anyway. I went to take a look at it in person and I really loved it for this bathroom. Master bath. Used Subway tiles in there 4x12. Staggered In between I put a decorative band of 4 x12 black white gray and some white sparkle glass tiles , Thrown in around the tub/ shower area. And around the mirror so I'm hope these chrome figures give some bling. We are on the water. But not ocean. I wish !!!!!!!! Thank you for all the imput truly appreciate it

With your subway tiles and the black, white, gray, sparkle accent, chrome is a good choice. It has a blue undertone (for anyone who can see undertones in metals) and works well with whites and cool colors. Nickel has a gold undertone and works well with tans and browns.
