Your little girl's room is just darling. I love how you've made her name so colorful above the window... it picks up the colors in her bedding. One thing you might want to do is put some window film over the top of the window, above the existing curtains. You can get ones that look just like a stained glass window. Or, you can use a sun blocking film, if you prefer. Another thing you can do is paint the upper part of the window with Gallery Glass, to create your own version of a stained glass window. A third option is to do this, only instead of doing it with a valance, as pictured here, attach full-length curtains this way. Then use tiebacks to open them, and unhook the tiebacks at night to close them, similar to what you have. They also make arched window blinds (http://www.burmeisters.net/missy.htm). A top down / bottom up shade might work actually....I have to look at it today with that in mind. All of the other windows have cellular blinds which are older and worn out and some are non-functioning or poorly functioning and one window definitely doesn't have a blind at all. I don't really like the idea of frosted film simply because we actually like to look out that window to check weather or look for daddy doing yard work or the neighborhood cat, etc. I feel like it would be a major loss if the window was obscured all the time. I agree that maybe painting the shutters white would look better. There is a lot of natural mid to dark wood throughout the house so its safe to say the previous owner really liked that look. We tend to go for lighter, brighter neutral with pops of color. I honestly had no idea about an ornamental leaded design......but I could see that possibly working after I searched some ideas. And yes, that is the stupidest place to put a bathroom. I have no idea what they were thinking. I think it would make a nice little office though, looking out on the front yard. I'd put built in shelves on the back wall so that's all you'd see when you looked in the window from the street.

oh man,,,no shades for that door. it's a beautiful door. (are you doing a UV clear coat to protect it? It doesn't look like anything was applied to the exterior. please look in to Penofin oil, the Marine one. that mahogany is gorgeous but you have to protect it or it will turn a horrid gray shade over time this is Ipe, but your mahogany will react similar. It will deepen and look even better after applying this oil it will protect it from any sun/or water and UV rays. it's easy to use and only needs a touch up every few years. if you don't do anything else to that door, do this product! if you MUST have privacy, then call in a glass guy and have them install some type of glass to the panels. A rain glass would look great. or, maybe they can apply a reflective film that is not noticeable from the inside

Ho much do you want to spend? Arched window custom coverings lean expensive. If you are willing to cover the window partially with drapes, especially if they were sheers, you could use drapes. So horizontally, you will have slightly less "window" than you have now.
