First time Gardner, I can answer that. It's technically probably a 'semi' dwarf. But in a container kept tree we can limit size by pruning roots and tops. There are grafted trees regarded more as 'dwarf' that are on Flying Dragon rootstock. But even those can grow to become a proper little tree. I have some on their own roots that I limit their overall size by pruning them pretty aggressively in the early spring. (I also prune the roots back to keep them in the same sized containers) By offering root space the tops tend to grow much better. Citrus grow so quickly in just a couple months they can add back 4ft of growth! Grafted trees tend to grow slower though but still need pruned to maintain a shorter bushy type shape. Hi Tony, The first leaf isn't a true leaf..It'll take even longer for the true leaves to form. Is your seedling getting sun? They need light to grow...and a mild dose of fertilizer. You didn't mention where you lived..What state are you in? If you live in a cold climate, with gray days nearing, your seedling will probably halt its growth. Keep seedling in a bright window, adding humidity. Do not allow soil to stay constantly wet..keep barely moist. Since winter is approaching, don't fertilizer after October. If possible, place plant under artificial light at night, even a few hours will help..If you have a light setup near a window, that'll be better. What size pot is the seedling growing in? You don't want to use too big a container..I find peat pots/pellets work fantastic, and they come in different sizes. 2 1/4" - 2 1/2" How about roots? Are they creeping out of the drainage hole? Hi Patricia..how warm/hot is the porch? Was your tree outside in summer? If so, how long has it been since bringing indoor? You said, "the leaves look very healthy even after they have fallen off." So you're saying foliage haven't any yellow or brown? Just green leaves that drop??? Is the air dry? Do you use a humidifer? Dry air causes all sorts of problems. (for plants, pets and people. They sell hygrometers (meters that read and display humidity) from 7.00 and up. They come in handy. Placing plants inside deeper/wider saucers filled w/stones or pebbles, then adding a little water, called a pebble tray, helps the air somewhat. Daily misting keeps foliage clean and moistens air a bit, especially if plants are grouped together. Since leaves aren't discoloring, it's difficult diagnosing a problem. Even if insects were the reason your citrus is losing leaves, there's usually some indication of their presence. I'd check leaves, stems and soil to be on the safe side. Don't fertilize during winter months. Set your tree in the most sun possible. Water well, but let soil dry between waterings. If possible take your citrus to the sink or shower and hose..I'd do this once a wk. Though some people are skeptical about this product, I'd buy a bottle of Superthrive Hormone and Vitamins. I don't see any problems with canning that particular recipe, it's fruit and sugar and the fruit is citrus, so high in acid. On average, oranges have a pH of between 3 and just above 4. Anything below 4.6 is considered safe for water bath canning, as a general rule, so you should be good to go. Happy canning! Annie
