*Finally* found Tide w/bleach HE powder!
Comments (23)@ livebetter No, I'm not a chemist * LOL * In fact, one of my worst teachers in high school was a chemistry teacher. From my limited knowledge, silicates are generally included in detergents as "washer protection agents" or "anti corrosion agents". Perhaps some detergents are more aggressive and require this ingredient while others do not, I don't know. I purchased a laundry soap made specifically for conditioned water that contains as it's 2nd or 3rd ingredient sodium metasilicate, which is a corrosion inhibitor. Softened water is notoriously aggressive against metals. The salts in conditioned water corrode the anodes in hot water heaters pretty readily. Soft water can also do a good job leaching copper out of copper water pipes, sometimes causing "blue water" to come out of peoples' taps. This sometimes happens in newer homes, but the corrosion will eventually form a coating on the inside of copper pipes that acts as an insulator against the corrosion. Did you know that the name PERSIL comes from the two primary ingredients in its original formulation? The PER comes from PERborate and the SIL comes from SILicates....See MoreTide Original Powder, changed??!! :(
Comments (40)I agree. It smells lousy. The same could be said for Dawn detergent, once lovely and now..UGH! These idiots can't leave well enough alone. And don't get me started on how "they" changed all the great perfumes into practically the same scent no matter what you buy..it smells like fly spray....See MoreDetergent residue in cloths with Kenmore HE3t and Tide HE
Comments (14)A front loading washer made my life EASIER, not harder! I wouldn't ever go back to a top loader. You have to learn how to use them correctly, just like any new item. But I guess it all depends on whether a person makes the choice to learn how to use their appliances to get the most efficiency out of them. I have no idea why you would think that using a tablespoon of detergent to clean a load is silly. The formulation of detergents in this day and age allow for decreased amounts of detergent. Top loaders use 1/4 to 1/2 the amount that was recommended even 10 years ago. A person used to have to use a LARGE scoop for a regular load-- and the economy sized box of detergent couldn't even be lifted without help! I am sure there are plenty of others on this forum that remember those days :) Please tell me how it is common sense that not enough water is used to rinse properly? If you had researched front loaders and followed the instructions properly, you would find that the decreased amount of water actually rinses MUCH better than a whole tub load of water. That is because the water is forced through the fabic as the drum tumbles and take the soap with it as it does. Compare it to rinsing your driveway off with a hose-- if you don't use a nozzle, the water just runs over the pavement but doesn't rinse it too well but if you use a high pressure nozzle, the dirty water is pushed off of the pavement. I love my FL and love the money I have saved all the way around by using it-- and that doesn't include my time and energy!...See MoreBack stock of Original Scent Classic Tide powder :( :(
Comments (11)There are a few boxes of what looks like the good stuff on Amazon, old packaging, NOT he turbo, just regular he. Sellers must know people want and love this...many are $30-40 box + high shipping! The boxes are not big either. Highway robbery!! I am just going to enjoy what I have left, and with 1-3 TBS. per load and also using Bubble Bandit and other detergents... my stash will last me a little longer, just not as long as I expected and planned it to last. Sad, and upsetting...but in the grand scheme of life, not a big deal. I will just keep telling myself this. LOL...See Morelarsi_gw
