What do you think of adult coloring books?
Comments (99)I did a new piece yesterday using crayons, I like how it turned out. Unfortunately my crayons are Crazart brand which are extremely cheap and it shows. I already had those which I had for a previous project. I might get a better quality crayon. I agree I am sure that the more expensive special pencils would be much easier to use. I will consider getting better tools if I think this hobby will last. So far I am enjoying it. I too wish we had a place we could discuss it more and show our work for comments and suggestions. I don't do FB but I have read that Angie Grace group and enjoy the pictures. Maybe we could ask for one as a sub forum for KT, like some have the conversation sub forums. We could have a sub forum KT Hobbies discussions,or something like that. That way it could include all varieties of our hobbies from art, photography, writing, animals, what ever your hobby is....See MoreBought my first adult coloring book.
Comments (18)Okay you got my curiosity on this....so I went and checked them out......and bought myself one along with some markers. But I have a question I'd like some feedback on.....A young lady friend of mine (late 20's or early 30's) was just diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer yesterday. I thought that one of these books (whether she colors or not) would be a welcome respite from all she may be going to go through, so I purchased one along with some markers to gift her with. I would like to add a little note in the card but am not sure if I should include a personal note, like is that okay etiquette? If so, any ideas? The card I purchased is a 'thinking about you" sort of sentiment....See MoreQuestion for those using the Adult Coloring Books
Comments (12)I bought some books and gel pens last week when AC Moore had a sale 3 books for $10 (Creative Haven and more) so I picked up several. They also had a great set of 52 gel pens for $10 (reg. $24 - they have them now for $12.99 until ?) in a tin case so I got 4 sets. I colored my first pic and love the way it came out (I'll post a pic later). I get so engrossed in how to place the colors that it keeps my going for hours. I make copies of the prints so I always have the blank original. I'm giving some books and pens to family members for Christmas. Also, Staples has Sharpies fine and Xfine on sale 24 colors for $10 which is a good deal. I bought both as I can use them for my other paid art work. Suggestion: If you are buying coloring books for elder people, I'd find ones with larger spaces to color as some of the books are so intricate that someone with bad eyes and nervous or painful hands will have a difficult time, IMO. Many of the books have tiny spaces to color and it's hard on the eyes. I'm learning how to blend and add touches to give my pictures depth. FUN!!!...See MoreAC Moore has adult coloring books on sale this week.
Comments (4)I have hand issues, rheumatoid arthritis plus I lack strength in them and I have wrist limitations. I started coloring to see if it could possibly help me with those problems. I didn't really care about the looks of the finished product. It was more as a form of therapy. Anything else was gravy. As it turns out it has made a difference in my hands and wrists, plus I like some of the finished product, not all but the more I work at it the better I get. I use pens because they are much easier than pencils they don't require as much pressure and wrists action. But I can't get the shading effects that pencils give. Maybe some day I can be more able to use the better quality pencils. Just try it. It is a very cheap hobby to try out! My sister has shakiness in her hands, I bought her a book and the $10 set of gel pens as part of her Christmas gift, I don't know if she can do it but I am hopeful it could help her. The good thing is no one ever has to see them except you. I don't mind showing mine, they are far from great but with my limitations I am happy with many of them....See Moreravencajun Zone 8b TX
