Mini-Split Advise, Sizing, Three Zone or Individual Units

We have received lots of advise from forum members, made multiple changes, and realizing we were not ready to proceed with the build this summer have decided to delay our start date to June 2016.

After reviewing the many HVAC options available we have decided to proceed with in-slab electric resistance and mini-splits.

The house is in Zone 7, is 2000 sq. ft., open concept, 9 foot ceilings, with 1575 sq. ft. on the first floor and a 425 sq. ft. loft, guest room, office on the second. The water side is all windows and faces south west so we will get sun from 11AM to sunset.

The mini-splits will be used as the primary heat source in the spring and fall and will be shut off during the winter when we are south. Eventually we will want to operate the mini's all winter.

We have pretty much decided on Fujitsu or Mitsubishi and want to use ducted mini splits even though they are less efficient that ductless. We don't like the look of the wall mounted units.

Our concern is sizing the units large enough to cool the house in summer with all day sun. Also should we go with one three zone unit or multiple units and what model and options would you suggest?
