Using a volumetric soil water content sensor to figure out re-watering

Michael Su

Basically the title sums up my problem, I have a volumetric soil water content sensor and I want to be able to use it to figure out when I should water my basil plant based on the % of water I have in my container. I know that basil like consistent moisture, but not soggy soil. I was thinking about watering the plant every time the sensor notifies me that the soil is at 50%. Anyone have experience in using soil moisture sensors, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
