Paint Color for Nursery

HI all, we are looking for advice on what color we should paint our Nursery for our baby boy due in Jan.

We have ordered this furniture set in the White finish:

We are wanting a paint that is going to give good contrast against this furniture but also do not want something too dark! The room is 13 X 11 and has 2 windows.

We are thinking something in the grey to "greige" color, we tried a sample of Sherwin Williams "Perfect Greige" as an example.

Another other opinions or help?

Congratulations on your upcoming arrival! Gray is a great neutral for a nursery and is a color that will grow with your baby. A couple of good ones to look at are Revere Pewter, Edgecomb Gray, Cape Hatteras Sand and Barren Plain - these Benjamin Moore colors run the gamut in the "greige" area and will offset your white furniture without being too dark. Good luck and enjoy your new addition!

juddgirl, that is precious. There's a thread on conversations about birthday parties for little ones -- and it started me just a'missing the heck out of the days when my little guys were actually little! My youngest just hit the big 1 - 0. And my oldest just got a physical for winter sports and he's coming in at 5' 10, 190 lbs and the new shoes we bought are a men's size 14. He's a moose. Point being, I totally relate to not wanting to take down the quilt! I'd hold on to displaying it for as long as you can get away with it!!! Those days go fast and you can't get 'em back. (now I need a tissue) Anyhoo, I paint virtually with Photoshop for the most part and pretty much do exteriors exclusively. Every now and then an interior room gets in the mix.

les917 - Thanks, I was considering the tan color too. The rug is enroute and I have 2 different looking stock pics, so I'm not sure if it is cream or a darker tan yet. The bad thing is that the rug isn't going to be here until Monday, the day I'm delivering! This baby is coming 4 weeks earlier than expected because of some complications I have. I was put on bedrest 2 weeks ago so I've been trying to shop for all of the last minute stuff online and the contractors should be finishing up his room on Friday! The only reason I was avoiding the tan is because I did pretty much the same thing in DS1's bedroom! His quilt is a plaid patchwork from PBK that has both tan and red and his walls are tan and we use red accents: Thank you, thank you for the guidance and suggestions!

Need help choosing a paint colour for our nursery

I believe in the bold, contrasting color for stimulating the babies eyes and brain activity.... I used a bold Disney Towel to place on the ceiling above the crib. It was a bold Mickey Mouse on a huge beach towel with red and black as background color on towel. When my son laid in crib the contrasting colors of towel kept him busy. He's now 22 years old. Been a straight A student thru high school and is a junior at University of Cincinnati majoring in engineering. Just adding lil more info.

What color to paint nursery walls with this wallpaper accent wall?

I’m thinking three dark walls. This is B.M. Nocturnal Gray, but just a guess to colors in the paper. You do need some blue undertone to work with what I call the “mean” west light. My go to for west light is Patriotic White, so I moved down the strip to find something darker. This color would show great with the white crib, and you could add a white rug on the floor, and a white lamp on the dresser.

I'm glad these suggestions were helpful, mbbrown3!

As far as a blue, can you narrow it down to whether you would be looking for a light blue, dark blue, baby blue, grey/blue, etc? We could definitely suggest something if we have a ballpark idea of which kind of blue you like best.
