Ideas for a Modern/Glam Window Treatment?
My DD's bedroom is furnished with an upholstered headboard and mirrored furniture. We are trying to select a window treatment.
I was thinking about a flat roman shade, but it was suggested to me that they are a hassle to open and close, and more than likely she will keep it down, limiting natural light in the room. Any opinions on this?
The other option is a valance or cornice with a blind, shade, or silhouette. She had panels before, and we want to shake it up a bit.
The window is 62" wide by 48" long. (Basically two windows side by side.)
Any suggestions?

8 years agoWhen I think hollywood glam, I think lots of silky, drapey, textural fabrics..lots of fabrics that you want to touch like silks and satins and sheers.
Maybe a cornice with sheers underneath. Not fond of the fabric choices below...I'd want something far more luxe, but just as an example of how you might update the look to something more modern. Just keep thinking "glam" though at every step of the way.

Comments (136)I'm observing that on the one hand, people like a more pared down look for WT; but on the other, some of the big houses in which they live have really architecturally challenged windows, especially those two story jobs that look like a floor got bombed out between the two....not beautiful windows, just plain janes that are up high. Comments (15)If you want affordable, repair what's there, and add a few more supports, I dislike cable for this reason, it sags. When you say, broken, what's wrong with it? The other option that won't be as cheap is Tech lighting rail kit, much cleaner than track and runs much the same as the cable. What might be fun and unique would be to put a cool film on the window, then hide a blackout shade under a valance for when she doesn't want any daylight. My sister has this on her bathroom window, and it's absolutely gorgeous. It has a prism effect when light hits it, glistening with rainbow colors.
