Found a lone Passiflora x belotii bloom. I'm going to miss its ginger/lemongrass scent.

This time of year always makes me scentimental. ;)

I always try to cherish every fragrant bloom we have since I know I won't be sniffing most of them again until spring.

Gorgeous flowers. I wish I had more blooming right now to share.

We are starting the rough months but hopefully people will have some fragrant goodies to get us through the dark period. :)

Brunfelsia gigantea starting to open and release its spicy perfume.

And this Monarch loves the Cestrum 'Orange Peel' even though it has no scent during the day. :)

October is usually the start of peak growing season for me. But my tree destroyed all my plants lol.

I just went out and took some photos.

Not much blooming. But, my roses have woken up from summer dormancy and are pushing out lots of new growth.

My Dauben water lily. I still highly recommend this plant. Gorgeous colour, amazing fragrance, extremely high shade tolerance, ever blooming, and small. I have one thriving in a half whiskey barrel.

Distant drums. I love this rose. Deep wafting myrrh scent. Sadly the amazing water lily like colour and form don't last past the first morning for me.

I might try Dauben again (it didn't make it over the winter in the basement when I grew it). It is a beautiful, fragrant water lily.

Distant Drums is a gorgeous rose! I love pink and yellow.

Ipomoea alba is still pumping out its gorgeous fragrant blooms. I'm going to miss it when the frosts cut it down. Oh, well. I can always grow more from seed next year. :)

Came home at lunch and sniffed the lightly fragrant William Shakespeare 2000 rose. I've never been impressed by its scent so that's why it's neglected in the front yard.

I did notice the Jasminum grandiflorum was wafting in the backyard under the arbor! :)

Distant drums looks much better when it first opens. I'll have to try for a picture of it.

I've never been able to get ipomoea alba to live. I can get the seeds to germinate, but they never reach flowering.

I suppose that's ok though. I've heard they are invasive here.

I love David Austin roses, but I was also a little disappointed in the fragrance of Shakespeare.

Still love my Abraham Darby.

Some 4 o'clocks. Not very exciting but reliable and fragrant.

Brunsfelsia. Smells nice today.

Duranta. I've decided it smells like Mexican pastries.

And this noid with it's sweet white wine fragrance.

I should give four o'clocks a try again. They are beautiful and easy.

Brugmansia 'Angel's Love' is finally starting to open and produce its perfume. Man, these doubles take forever!

Unamed variegated Brugmansia did not think it would flower this year with the poor summer we have had

impatiens tinctoria still going stong wonderful fragrance in the evening

Another one still going strong is plumeria stenopetala flowering for nearly 3 months

viburnum bodnantense dawn flowering early for me leaves still on the plant must think it is already mid winter :P

Oncidium Meike powerful fragrance

Alcera Mervin cove Talisman cove mild fragrance

And a new one i have been waiting for is geranium gibbosum which is said to have strong night scented flowers! guess we will soon see

I can't get my brugmansia to grow let alone flower.

It has spider mites...

Hate spider mites but I'd take them over broad mites any day.

My old fashioned petunias that I started from seed really late in the season are starting to bloom. Hooray!

And my Osmanthus fragrans has never had so many wonderfully fragrant blooms. Someone must've told it I was thinking about tossing it. ;)

My plumeria is putting up a panicle just as its about to go dormant. There's no accounting for some plants...

The solandra is about to put on a big show. More on that later.

The rain is starting up and so are my roses!

Pillow fight. I believe this is a cross between iceberg and gourmet popcorn. Low, bushy, small flowers that appear in clusters. Lovely violet scent.

Noid pink rose that might be Queen Elizabeth. Lovely old rose fragrance that's actually quite strong.

That yellow noid is entering full flush and it's sweet white wine fragrance is wafting a few yards.

And lastly another distant drums. Better form this bloom but still lacking that gorgeous colour combo.

I'm very excited because my Green Romantica rose has a bud for the first time! Can't wait to see it.

Brassavola nodosa has been blooming like mad and filling the night air with its distinctive scent.

My brugs are nearly dead... Can't seem to get them going again.

Grand Duke with a bloom. Smells divine.

Grocery store mini rose. Similar scent to my yellow rose. Sweet white wine. This one is more floral though.

Wow...beautiful flowers! Amazing to see all this as autumn is taking over my garden. I'm just glad the rain is back. Lost a nice camellia to the darn drought:(

'Summer Snow' bravely opened a flower to greet guests to our Thanksgiving dinner last week. This plant is much tougher than I thought it would be. Can't wait to see its performance in better conditions

Yay! My white butterfly ginger is finally starting to bloom as well. I moved it from its sheltered spot so I could sniff it and it flopped. Oh, well. Still smells awesome!

Jealous that you all have managed to get your butterfly ginger blooming. I had one for a few years & finally gave it away. I think it didn't get enough sun?

A bit off topic, but I was tickled to see a stellar jay in the branches of the yulan magnolia today. It was eating seeds from one of the ripe pods. I've found that seeds from this group of magnolias (eg. sieboldii) are highly prized by squirrels, birds, etc. Quite a rare delicacy for them:)

Waah Robert. That's a pretty picture. Is the scent of that epiphyllum strong? How big is the plant? I want a cutting ;)

When I first stuck my nose to the bloom yes, it was strong but it didn't waft but I could definitely smell it. Only fragrant during the day. It's growing in its original hanging basket from the nursery and is probably a foot wide and maybe two feet long? Don't know since I've never measured it and I'm at work now. Can measure it later for you and of course I'll send you a cutting. :)

I love all the pastel shades in the old fashioned vining petunias mix. The white ones seem to smell strongest.
