I like a lot of different music but for some reason I am on a Adele kick. I have been listening to her live shows online too.

My boys love the Pandora station Cardio dance and we play it and dance every weekend. my 6 year old likes to make up dances. The last one I remember is the "scissors" He makes cutting gestures with his fingers while he dances around. They crack me up!

Lynn, my brother is a professional musician/percussionist. Back when he was first starting out professional after attending music school, he played with the Flamingos. That was back in the late 80s/early 90s, well after the original band was together. However the traveling got to him, so he moved on.

One of my favorite singers/musicians is someone I knew personally, and who was really only known locally here in the Wash DC area, Eva Cassidy. She was my brother's first girlfriend and they played for several years in a high school band together. They stayed friends after breaking up, and she and her family remained close family friends. My mother still has lunch with her mom a few times a year. Sadly, she passed away from melanoma almost 20 years ago, in her early 30s. It wasn't until after her death that she was "discovered" in Europe and then interest here in the US grew as well. In fact, her rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow was the background song heard in the In Memoriam video that was shown at the Emmys this year. I couldn't believe it as I was watching, to hear her voice unexpectedly on my tv. While I love her performance of Over the Rainbow, my favorite song she performed was Autumn Leaves, perhaps because the lyrics are so meaningful to me given her tragic death, which coincidentally occurred in the fall. If you like jazz and blues, you may enjoy her music. She has several albums that can still be purchased.

Here are two videos of her performing Over the Rainbow and Autumn Leaves. These were filmed just 10 months before she died. I can't listen to her music without crying. So talented but gone too soon.

Adele was absolutely perfect for the theme song of the last James Bond film, "Skyfall". Loved that song, and her voice was perfect for it, so forlorn and really captured Bond.

Really, this list is so long it's silly. But I don't know what to take out! I listen to music almost all day long and my music taste is pretty diverse. I like blues, classic rock, 70s disco, pop, outlaw country, sludge metal...I'm not crazy about classical (it just doesn't move me like I wish it did). I really dislike pop country and techno pop - they're abhorrent!

Cindy, before GW joined Houzz, her screen name was LynninNM, or something like that. "Lynn in" became "Linen". Kinda stuck. She calls me Tibbie.

These are all interesting and diverse lists! Sometimes I end up in a rut where I listen to the same music over and over...I'm going to branch out using some of the above as inspiration. :)

I love a lot of the music posted, mostly the folk/rock genre of my youth: Carole King, Judy Collins (who still is touring and her voice just gets better and better), Joan Baez (never was really into her when she was young, but I love her more mature voice singing her hits), Simon and Garfunkel, both together and separately. Art Garfunkel toured a few years ago and came to our town. I wasn't sure about whether to see him or not, because I thought I just like him with Paul Simon. But he sang Bridge Over Troubled Water a Capella in our beautiful little Performing Arts Center and it might have been the very best musical experience I've ever had. I got goosebumps just writing this.

Eva Cassidy is a favorite of mine.

ML, I love your list and agree with just about everything on it. I too like quite a variety of music, including classical & bluegrass, but no heavy metal, head-banger or techno. I listen to either my iphone on shuffle or a Serius channel all the time.

I forgot to add Billy Bob Thornton and the Boxmasters (his band) to my list. He has played locally several times and if you haven't heard him play go try it some time. He also supports a local special needs dance group quite actively so he holds a special place in our hearts around here.

Diane, I would love to see Sharon Jones live! I too hope she'll recover and continue her music.

I don't have a list. It would be too long and diverse to even make sense. I will say that I go to the Coachella Music & Arts festival every year. if you're familiar with it, you'll understand why I can't make a list.

We had a busy month of concerts in September. In one week we had Rick Springfield/Loverboy/The Romantics--we even took MIL to that one, then Buckcherry, then we had VIP 2nd row for Van Halen. A couple of weeks ago we also saw Motorhead.

Cindy, and I call Tibbrix "Tibbie" because I like her very much and, while her moniker makes no sense to me (sorry Tibbie), it's very close sounding to my very favorite furkids in the world, Tibetan Spaniels/ Tibbies. (Sigh) Somehow that doesn't sound quite right. Sorry! I don't think of her as a canine. That sounds terrible! I've just nicknamed her "Tibbie" , as I think it's such a wonderful name.

Linen, I'd be flattered if you thought of me as a canine! Are there any more wonderful beings in the world than dogs? I'm not sure!

And, as a matter of fact, my moniker is a combination of the names of two dogs who were very special to me. Tib was my childhood dog, and we called her Tibby! (also, "Boo" and "Shmoo", no idea why, but she answered to everything). So your "Tibbie" is very, very sweet for me. The other dog belonged to a client of mine, a golden retriever, who died at age 6 of cancer. What a personality he had. We were all so devastated when he got sick.

Allison, did you see Jackson Browne yet? He was at the Saenger in New Orleans Thursday night. The review didn't make it sound like the greatest concert. I think I would have been disappointed too.

I am a full blown Rock n Roll chick. I just saw Aerosmith in August and last month had front row tickets for Tesla, Styx and Def Leppard. Def Leppard is my all time favorite band, this song is one of my favorites of their ballad types: Def Leppard Long Long Way To Go.

I love melodic rock music and bluesy rock. Aerosmith and Guns N Roses are good for the bluesy sounds. Bryan Adams and Tom Petty are also highly ranked.

I have a wide variety on my playlists-from funk, R&B, heavy metal, Lady Gaga, 70's lite rock (Eagles, America, Seals & Crofts), standards, latin jazz, basically if it makes me move, I like it. I absolutely cannot stand todays pop music and I'm so not a fan of country music.

I love most kinds of music, excluding rap. Just can't seem to connect to it. Share favs with lots already posted.

One of my favorites is Jesse Cook. Rhumba-flamenco with a bunch of other stuff too. I've seen him twice in concert, and got to talk with him for about five minutes after the show earlier this year in Malibu. He's an intelligent, gracious person. Lots on YouTube.

Re Adele's new song---how I hate to see a powerful voice wasted on a song that primarily uses four or five notes!

Hardly wasted.

It is an opinion, Cindy, like the review you cited. I admire her voice but not her choice of music.

I'm hearing a lot of OneRepublic lately and really loving them. This video is, IMO, beautiful.

Update: we saw Huey Lewis & the News two weeks ago, and America this weekend. Huey was a fun show. He has such a great personality. America was fabulous! If they come anywhere near, I urge you to go see! In between trips, we saw Jackson Browne at a local theater. While it was also a great concert, he is with a band and didn't play hit after hit like he does when traveling with just his guitars. His lead guitar player and wife sang for 40 minutes before JB band started, and while they were talented, we were not expecting a pre-JB performance, so it was a little discouraging.

*Edited to add: Just saw your post, CindyMac, and read the review. Larry Campbell is extremely talented and we enjoyed listening/watching him with JB. He was also entertaining with his wife, Teresa Williams. Some of the duos music leaned country, which we are not fans, but they are talented. Her belting did hurt my ears at times. :D DH was a huge JB fan growing up, so he recognized 6 of the songs they performed. I only recognized half that, so yes, it was a tad disappointing for me.

Oh, Allison, I'd love to see America! My husband has been learning "Sister Golden Hair" on guitar. Going to look now to see if they'll be coming our way!

One of my best concert experiences was going to see Tom Petty, and about midway through the performance he turned to the audience and said, "Hey, I think we're gonna bring our 'little sister' to the stage" - and out walked Stevie. It was a wonderful surprise!

Oh, I'd love to see Tom Petty, and to get to see 'little sister' Stevie with them. Wow!

We heard a band in concert called the Tedeschi Trucks Band about a week ago. If you like the Allman Brothers Band you'd like them. Susan Tedeschi was fantastic.

CindyMac, I also love Brandi Carlile. I had never heard of her until we saw Sheryl Crow several years ago and Brandi was the opening act...I actually enjoyed her performance better than Sheryl Crow's. Since then, I have seen Brandi C. a couple more times in concert and she puts on a fantastic show.

I was at home Friday morning and heard Sara Bareilles singing a song from her new album. Wonderful! I believe it is called 'Promises'.

And another Brandi C fan here too.

I love country music ( other genres too, though), and was happy to see Chris Stapleton win big.
