Why do my plants look so different?

Hi everyone,

Ive posted here a few times before with citrus problems, but thanks to the great advice of everyone here, my two Eureka Lemon Saplings are looking really healthy and nice!

Now I'm interested in why the two are so different!

I know that there is always variation in a species, but these two look like different trees! The weird thing is that they've had almost exactly the same conditions!

Theyre both approximately the same age, have always had the same pot and potting mix, and I've kept them inside on the same sunny windowsill (I live in the UK)

The only differences between them is that the tall one was germinated in the dark, so I think that caused the stem to elongate. Also, when the short one had just got its first two tiny leaves, I found an insect on one of them and it had gone yellow, so I chopped it of.

They were both the only seedling to sprout from a single seed, so there weren't two seedlings from one seed or anything. Can anyone help me answer why the two are so different?? Here are some pics:

Thanks all :)
