Swampwiz, Yes, the blueboard goes all the way to the ceiling. IN our basement BR we used it everywhere, including the ceiling. We then had cultured marble sheets put on top of the blueboard. They are 80" tall above the base, so yes they end up being 7 feet tall. This was all the waterproofing we needed as we were not tiling. I think with tiles I would use a Kerdi system or something like RedGuard. The blueboard is made of mold and mildew resistant materials, so we are using it instead of drywall in all our bathrooms. We then used Aura Spa paint by BM which is also supposed to be mold and mildew resistant. But, actually, rereading your original question, I think your finishing panels don't have to be 7 feet tall in a bath tub area- in our present main bath the panels only go to 6 feet.

So you are now looking at the full length receptors, like I am, then. I can't use the Kohler Salient that so many have used because of the oval raised pattern on it. It is a silly design as it makes placement of a large bench very difficult. So I saw the Kohler Bellwether in real life and it looks promising. It has a slope from left to right or right to left, depending on the side you choose for your drain. I like that the front of the pan is finished, unlike the Katherine or Purist, which have to be tiled in the front. It is a little taller in height at 4.5 inches, though. That is not good for me, but I would consider some creative installation techniques, if approved by the guys at this forum. I prefer to stick with cast iron or something equally heavy duty. A very heavy family member may be using it. I originally was going to use the Swanstone ADA roll-in shower base with a trench drain at the entry, but I just am not sure about that set-up. Which receptor are you looking at now that you are going for a full length one?

@jewelisfabulous - ahh, so nice to have a window! I'd like to hang artwork, but I'd be a bit concerned it might fall and damage our new tub! @monicakm_gw - thank you taking the time to attach a photo. What a serene bath tub you have! You just gave me a great idea for the 3 walls that will be bare since we won't be tiling all the way up to the ceiling. A towel rack would look great on the back wall :) 1. Did you mean your tub is 19" in height (from the floor)? 2. If it's not too much trouble, I'd love to see what your faucet for the bath tub looks like!

Well Mitchell, I think your kitchen and home are lovely. Your floors are really cool too! I know the mosaic is bugging you, and it probably would me too, however, it is still very pretty and will probably never be given a second thought by anyone but you and your fiancee. And like a few suggested, once you accessorize, get your hardware in, etc...it's not going to be such a focal point to you like it is now. So, if it turns out not to be such an easy fix, please don't stress about it. Your home is gorgeous! I'm a Texan too, going through a Harvey remodel, so maybe I've just finally learned to not sweat the small stuff with all this house business...as a matter of fact, I've got some "TX hacks" working downstairs in my kitchen right now. ;) Congratulations on your beautiful new home.
