Comments (15)The Toshiba A135 received a Very Good rating from cnet. Cnet doesn't give very many $1000 affordable laptops that high of a rating. I recently bought the A135 2877, I believe is the model, the one with 2 gs of mem. (would recommend 2 gigs minimum for vista, from what I hear. It has a 180g hard drive, actually two seperate hard drives, a 100g plus an 80g. Great for backing up your system. With this much memory and hd space, you could collect a sizeable video and audio library (were talking hundreds of songs and movies). It runs Vista flawlessly. Yes, there are faster systems out there. I would have loved one with the Nvidia graphics card, which would give you a whopping 512m of shared graphics memory. The Intel that comes with the A135 has 256megs, acceptable. For about $1100 at costco online, I thinks it's one of the best deals out there. It was about $300 more than I wanted to spend on a laptop, but I'm just thinking where technology is going today, with streaming video, tv and music becomming more and more prevailant, before too long, anything less that 2 gigs of memory and a harddrive less than 100 gigs will probably be obsolete in the next couple years. I think this will be sufficient for our needs for some years to come. -- john...See Morecomputer power center, help please?
Comments (9)Shaddy, does this box say Interex on the front of it (brand name)? If so, I have a couple of them here. If that is what it is, plug in most of your components in the outlets closer to the power cord that comes out the back. On the front, you will see either switches(toggle) or push button (depending upon your model). Make sure the toggles are all in on position, or on push button model, make sure they are all pushed in (on position). Now, leave them there, and dont turn them off anymore at all. Everything will be shut down from the master control that is on the far right of the front of the unit. When you shut your computer down, do it the usual way. Once computer is all shut down, just push the button on the master to turn it all off, or toggle, if yours is the toggle model. When you go to turn on your computer again, turn that master button on, and boot your computer the usual way. Good Luck to you....See MoreMy computer crashed- please help.:(
Comments (44)I agree with Raven here, I would not be taking a Celeron computer in for repair. That might well cost half the price of a new computer. You don't have a friend, neighbour or relative who might loan you their Windows XP CD? Explain to them that you do not need the license number as your license sticker on the side of the computer case is the one you would enter as you install XP. That sticker number is tied to the motherboard in your computer. (I suspect that if you have XP Home then you would need an XP Home CD) Recovery disks are bought at the time of the computer purchase. Or this is more often just a separate partition on your hard drive and the buyer should create a set of recovery disks. This includes all the 'free' extras the computer maker adds on. The XP CD is just that, a copy of Windows XP with nothing added As a side note you may want to suggest to Dad that he creates a set of recovery disks for his machine in case he runs into problems too at some future point....See MoreUser
