2 computer problems - help, please

1. When I run Spybot, the first screen that comes up gets rid of my temporary files. The last few times I have run it, it always says that about 120 files cannot be removed. Would someone be able to tell me why this is and is it okay?

2. It seems a lot of times that my computer is continually running, especially if I am using more than one screen. During these times, everything runs so very slow. Would someone be able to tell me what to check to remedy this problem?

a fyi, I am computer literate when it comes to using the computer; but, I am computer illiterate when it comes to fixing problems. If you have some solutions for me, please use detailed explanations.

I would run a malwarewbytes scan, an then a cleaner like ccleaner an or ATF cleaner see what these tools clean out.

Zep has covered your first problem hopefully, and maybe a large part of the second problem.

On the other issue do you mean the hard drive is working almost continuously and the activity light on the tower is constantly coming on? If so you may want to see how much spare space there is on the hard drive, you need about 20% free to run efficiently allowing the swap file to run. Click Start, click My computer and see how big the hard drive is and how much free space is available. If there is not enough empty space perhaps you could either remove any programs no longer used or save some of your data to CD or DVD to increase the available free space.

I have a 4 foot tall healthy, thriving Saguaro, and I live in chicagoland.. It stays in the house in a southern exposure from October until June. It gets watered MAYBE 4 times during those EIGHT months! Once it goes outside, I water it about every 2-3 weeks in the summer, using a moisture meter as my guide. Plus, you must ALWAYS have the same side facing south, or they will burn and die..I mark my pot with a painted red dot, so I know to ALWAYS keep that side facing south..VERY IMPORTANT to NOT turn these guys.. You MUST keep these guys super dry in the fall/winter, and even in the summer, they can go awhile without water, even if its 90-100 degrees. They are like sponges; you can see them swell up when you water them, and you watch them start to shrivel up a bit the dryer they get. Remember, they are native to the Arizona desert, where they might get 4 inches of rain ALL YEAR..Overwatering will kill these guys, and that is what you did to your little guy..My 4 foot tall guy is in a 14 inch diameter pot, which is only a little bigger than they one you had your little fingerling in.

Help touching up Regal Matte, 2 different problems, please?

It could be a question of nap size, but really the problem is that Regal Matte doesn't touch up well. What I do when touching up with any paint is not use any primer at all. I have had more problems with the primer actually causing the touch ups to flash, so I just skip it. I get the best results by just doing 3 coats of the finish paint. But, there is a difference between the paint not touching up because it is flashing and because it just doesn't match. Say the painters ran out of paint, and picked up one last gallon to finish the job. It could be that the last gallon was not tinted perfectly and/or that it was not mixed (boxed) with all the paint for the job and this is the gallon that you are using to touch up. This is why it says on all paint cans that you should box colors for uniformity. Also, BM claims that the sheen level of their Regal Matte dies down after full cure, so in theory your touch ups may blend in better after a month. I've never bought into that claim though. The biggest factor is going to be lighting. If the touch up is in a dark room in a corner, then it may appear to blend in better than if the touch up is on a high foyer wall with a big window casting light down the wall. A lot of times what happens is you sand the patch out further than the patch and then you don't touch up far enough around the patch to cover up what you have dulled with the sanding. Is this what you could be seeing as a glitter effect? I don't know, but sanded drywall mud can look sparkly in sunlight.

I use Firefox daily and never had this problem, I would not quickly attribute it to Firefox. But make sure you have the latest updated version of Firefox! Try clearing the cache on Firefox which should be done regularly anyway. Try Right clicking on the back arrow, that will give you a drop down list of the previous pages you visited, click here on the first selection which should be exactly the same as just hitting the back button once. If this works I think you might have a problem with the actual back button. Do you have any problems with just using the cursor and using it to click on the back arrow on Firefox? I don't think I have ever used the back button on my pc keyboard to go back to the previous page, I strictly use the mouse cursor, my mouse actually has a specific go back button on it but I rarely use it.

Also let us know how much RAM (Memory) is installed?

Right click my computer choose properties? Ram is listed there.

What Anti Virus do you have Installed?

Remember to let malwarebytes remove anything it finds, you click remove selected within the program an make sure it's the most updated version.

spybot used to be one of the top programs to use but now malwarebytes and superantispyware are both superior programs, and both are free.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
and of course always update prior to running the full scans

zeo516, I have 512 mb or RAM and I have AVG Anti Virus.

I have run Malwarebytes, cc cleaner, and then SuperAntiSpyware as ravencajun suggested.

I will be gone now until Friday evening and then will start using my computer again, so hopefully I will see a difference in performance.

Thanks for all your help, and when I get back and spend some time on it, I will give you an update.

If possible, you might want to consider adding at least another 512MB stick of RAM memory. 512MB is barely enough to run XP. The longer you have the computer, the more running processes you end up having, slowing down the computer

The disk activity may be caused by your anti-virus software running a complete scan. A scan can slow the operation of other software unless it is set to run in background.

I don't know about other makes of anti-virus software, but "Norton Internet Security" has a feature in its settings to run scans in background. Using this setting helps with computer 'hangups'.

Sometimes, the virus scan software is set to run each time the computer is started. If this is a 'full' scan, it can use up much of your processor's resources for the next couple of hours. A more desireable setting it to scan only critical disk areas on boot-up, and then perform full scans at scheduled times or in background.

Ok to strart off I have a sony vaio vgn-fs980...on a random day my touchpad stopped working and I connected a usb mouse, after a while I got annoyed carrying the mouse with me, I went on a website for help and I followed some instructions on getting the driver downloaded, therefore I did , as soon as my laptop restarted my touchpad was working, however when I tried to go on the net and say thanks for the help I noticed my keyboard wasn't working ,...it only gets the keyboard when its in the start up...I need help...my laptop has been like this for about a year, I really don't have money to get it fixed and I'm a fulltime student I really need my laptop running right...any help? I don't know if this helps but as I went into thr device manager under batteries I noticed that under microsoft AC adapter there was a yellow exclamation mark..and the same for microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery...what should I do.

Lanny2009, start a new thread for your problem. With it tacked onto this one, it most likely will be overlooked and not get many responses.

One question, do you usually use this on battery power or do you use it on AC power?

Gee I took out the battery a day ago and the computer was on and funcitoning so I believe it would be the ac power
