Pls post photos of upholstered + wood dining chair combo
Comments (26)Thanks everyone for the suggestions!! I think you've all made it easier for me to go with a more streamlined chair. Seeing your comments makes it a lot more clear why something simple works better despite the table being ornate. I feel pretty strongly that I shouldn't get more upholstered chairs. It feels like too many things going on. Plus from a practical standpoint, I don't think I want the added stress of worrying about dinner guests messing up the upholstery. (Part of the reason I went with the damask pattern is that I felt it hide small stains better). But as has been suggested, I think maybe the wooden chairs need some kind of cushion in a creamy fabric to tie in with the fabric and color schemes. So thanks so much. To answer the questions above: The room is already painted. The wall is woodland snow and the trim is bone white (both Ben Moore paints). I wanted to keep the paint scheme very calm (read: boring!) because so many other elements were going on. This is a old house that Ive spent the last 14 months gut renovating. I live in Brooklyn. If your curious about the renovation, I have a blog. (www.brooklynlimestone.blogspot.com) I haven't made much of a dent with the decorating yet but I'd love to hear any suggestions. Its pretty daunting but Im happy to nearly over with the construction part....See MoreDining chair question for a farmhouse style dining room
Comments (42)Beautiful room! I love the combination seating you have but if you decide to not use the bench for some reason then I would suggest 2 more black Windsor side chairs and just use the parsons at the head and foot of the table. I have white upholstered chairs at the head and foot of my RH salvaged pine trestle table and wood side chairs with slips only on the seats. I love this look - the linen slips are a nice, soft contrast to the rustic table. I was also considering black Windsor side chairs for my table but wasn't sure and then found my chairs on sale at Shabby Chic. I fell in love with them because they're so pretty but DH is not a fan due to comfort. He would have preferred the Windsor chairs. Looking at your photos, I can see they would have looked great! Can you share where you found your sign and clock hanging on the walls? I need to find some interesting wall decor!...See MoreMixing upholstered and wood dining chairs
Comments (4)I suggest just getting six of the upholstered chairs. Since your spares are going to be mix and match, going with part of the chairs in wood and part of the chairs in upholstery is just too much mix and not enough match....See MoreDining Room Refresh
Comments (23)@Beverly I really like the bottom table for the entry where is it from? @bpath my kids are younger and it's just easier for us to eat in the nook. We use the table for holidays, if we have visitors etc. I would like to graduate to using it more often when the kids aren't as messy. We wouldn't use a sitting area/writing area either. I have a small reading area and extra room that I already don't know what to do with haha. I like to read outside or in bed or in my office. Ultimately I want my house to look more finished instead of thrown together. We are slowly replacing young family/college furniture for more "adult" things but it's obviously costly....See MoreUser
