Help me choose a chandy for my "pedestal" dining room.
Comments (28)Oh, nosoccermom! You posted the kind of thing I was thinking of when I first saw her photo. I didn't look further on Overstock (I'm already killing time I should be spending on something else), but the wavy would be great -- a little softer. It's a marriage of the large rectangles behind and the curves of the furniture. It is unexpected, but still adds formality. I like either of the rectangles. They are simple, yet dramatic and unique enough for your pedestal DR. OK, Lauren -- you can't say we aren't giving you ideas! LOL ETA: I showed the disc chandelier that is in my bedroom on your other thread. Just to balance your neighbor's view -- that one is in a traditional home with traditional dark furniture and I love it. Comments (1)Initial thoughts: Slimmer scaled furniture perhaps couch w 2 slim chairs (i.e. wood frame & cushion) in front of the window, leaving empty space where loveseat is. The rug needs to be nearly double the current size. The existing look is very heavy and weighted all to one side, from the large solid couch and loveseat and blocky table, to the dark upholstery next to the medium dark floor. Wait on the paint color until you select furniture. The dark dining set on the darkish floor contribute to the overall heaviness here. A fun rug (large) there would define the space and relieve the darkness....See Moredining room need a refresh and helps to be more beautiful

Comments (31)I appreciate that you want to update the area but I think it might be time to fix the scale and composition. The huge hurdle is the current upholstery and there is no inexpensive way around that. For what it will cost you to reupholster you could purchase a new dining set. IMO the sideboard against the wall is too small, the art is too large, the quality of the light from the chandelier is not good for the space. NO rug is required if you have one in the living area....See MoreCarole
