Dusty MIller as a Perennial?! Believe it!!
Comments (20)Just a note, the "Silver Brocade" is actually a variety of artemesia, not senecio. Artemesia tends to be much hardier than senecio cultivars. This past winter all of my (poorly mulched) Dusty Millers along with my snaps survived in my 6A garden; it was a relatively mild winter but we did have temperatures in the single digits for a while. I think a lot of us have microclimates in our gardens and beds that are a zone or two higher than the technical zone for our geographical area. Especially if you live in an area with lots of houses and trees, all of your neighbors provide more shelter than you'd think, and then your own house and plantings provide more....See MoreLennox Pure Air Cabinet versus Trane Clean Effects Air Cleaner
Comments (2)With regards to the Trane Clean Effects/American Standard AccuClean, the fault really lies with the consumer. It seems many of these advanced electronic air cleaners were installed and forgotten. Well after 14+ months of use with no maintenance, it was the accumulation of dirt/dust/pollen/tar/smoke buildups that were igniting in the charging media. Shame they had to basically reduce the effectiveness due to lazy, cheap or misinformed consumers that werenÂt caring for their elite filters. They were once the most effective filter on the market, not sure now where they stand with the upgrade, resulting in less efficiency and performance. Much like the Aprilaire 5000, that too at one time was the best over other products years ago but, also had potential fire problems due to consumers not having the media changed on a regular basis. If it was me though, having been involved with the delayed and much anticipated introduction of this filter, I would still get one over all others....See MoreDid you grow up in a clean house?
Comments (36)Gosh.... more interesting tales. My mother was the "boy" in a Farm family with 3 girls. She never lifted a finger in the house or to cook; but she knew how to be a good farmer, dairyman, horse trainer etc. etc..... so she wasn't a good housekeeper or cook. Things were clean.... but the clutter and what would be called hoarding today was just amazing. I do believe that "self-sustaining" kinds of people, growing up in the depression DID just save everything. Came the USMC into my life with my marriage and DH's mother having been a perfectionist (and deceased).... I needed to get my act (that I didn't KNOW about) together. We had many 'discussions early in our marriage, and, in order to become a member of the Coffee Klatch Club ( the neighbors) one had to have housecleaning DONE be 9 or 10 am.... and they held impromptu inspections, of course, (not really, but one would be greatly embarrassed to have dinner dishes in the sink the next day or dirty diapers not taken care of). Thank goodness I was a willing student... not necessarily a quick learner, but I am grateful for the lessons. I never was as good as most military wives on a day to day basis... but I always gave it my best effort, and usually would allow you in the door instead of hide in the bathroom.... and still do.....See MoreDry dusty smell bedroom - breathing problems
Comments (7)Where else is this flooring in your home? If the bedroom is the only place you suffer? It could be something else. and not the floor or the walls. Is this a one bedroom home? An apartment? Is the bedroom is the only place you have the symptoms.? It may come down to new paint on the walls, and a new HARD floor, no carpeting at all. If burning throat and eyes don't happen in your kitchen or living room............it's that or your bedding. It could also be you soaked too much water into carpeting and pad..........and have unwittingly grown some mold below. Shampoos in August are not the best - too warm and humid....See MoreUser
