The solution I recommend has nothing to do with an app.

I think you need to tell your daughter that you aren't happy with being told untruths and that that needs to stop. Put teeth into the rule, and enforce it if necessary. Be nasty if you need to be, be insistent and consistent.

All teenagers poke and prod at rules to see which really get enforced and which don't. I blew up at each of mine, told them I had zero tolerance for lies and that they would be very unhappy if it ever happened again. I also promised that I would always return the respect to them that they gave to me. it worked.

there are apps now that you can download on the phone and trick the find my iphone app. So she can be doing that because she knows that you are looking. She just doesnt want you to know where she actually is.

I don't think this will help but I'll share it.

I wanted to get a bluetooth keyboard for my Ipad. I went to Staples. Found the keyboard but began looking at chairs and laptop tables. Wound up buying a chair. They put the chair in my car.

I then visited other stores in the shopping center.

When I got home, I left all my packages in the car. Next day I thought I'd hook up the keyboard. Guess what? No Ipad. I searched and realized I lost the Ipad.

I have an iphone and hit 'find my Ipad.' It continually said it was not turned on and couldn't locate it. I immediately went back to Staples and the sales people helped me search but no one could find it. I kept trying my Iphone to locate the IPad. It kept saying it couldn't locate it.

I went to every store and walked through the stores searching for it. Salespeople helped (how embarrassing).

I called Apple and asked them why the Iphone was not locating the Ipad. A very nice guy explained that the battery could be dead or it was shut off. I explained neither was the case as it was on when I was testing the keyboard. I never shut it off. It had been charged the night before and was 100%.

He then said it could be out of range of a cell tower or wireless router. I was certain it was inside a store and all had wirelesss.

Long and short, I did find it. An employee in Staples realized I left it behind when I left the store. He put it in the stores safe. He was off when I was searching for it. He did not let anyone know it was in the safe.

The app did not work. I'm guessing it might have to do with it not connecting to another router without permission (makes no sense since I used it in their store), but its useless as far as locating it.

Follow Snidely's advice.

Although, I can't imagine dealing with my kids (who are now adults) with these devices. I'm not sure how a parent today controls what their kids do with phones, internet, computers. I never had to deal with that. Other stuff for sure, but not electronics and internet.

Jane, I'm thinking the metal safe blocked the signals and, had he put it almost anywhere else, you would have found it. JMHO
