Frazzlehead: I'm looking at replacing a deteriorated 35 y.o wood 8" French door/sidelights with the same style of patio door opening you mention: 3 panel multi-slider (2 that move and stack over the fixed 3rd). What brand did you choose, do you have a picture of the final outcome and comments on performance? After 4 years, your experience. Thanks in advance

I was not aware that ThermaTru made sliding patio doors? But I would pretty much say I would never buy a Jeldwen exterior door or window.

Maddie...the table area door opens to a screened porch. So not much risk of fading in that area (maybe fading on the porch however). If I put something on the door area without the porch I will probably put a matching treatment on the table area door... i have thought about putting a solar shade on the exterior screen porch area on the beam that is to the East but didn’t follow through because I just became stymied due to uncertainty. if I had this it might even protect the area without the porch to some degree. I will get serious about this. Does anyone have a good source for exterior solar shades or should I just have the window gal look into it for me? i love the idea of an awning on the outside of the uncovered area. I wonder how deep of an awning it would take to block the morning East sun? and I wonder why I never thought of this. pics of screen porch beam for solar shade and pic of exterior door where the sun is such an issue (where awning would go).
