12ft 2 panel slider patio doors?

I'm working up a kitchen remodel that includes removal of a fireplace and a replacement of a french door. Due to the cost of folding or telescoping doors, I'm considering a large 2 panel slider. But I can't find any examples or pricing to determine if it's a good route. Wall to wall on this pair is 11.5ft. But I also have a 12ft 4panel French door set and another 6ft French door to replace sometime in the future. Looking for something more contemporary, more glass for a better view. Something similar to this. That is probably a Fleetwood Multi Slide door. That size/look is pretty common now. I would determine a budget and material type for the door (wood vs aluminum) and move from there but these are premium products. I see most of my clients finally narrowing it down to an OXXO configuration because of expense.

I'm okay with somewhat premium. Just not bifold $1300 per ft premium. Which is a huge jump from a $4k Anderson slider for example. I guess I'm looking for something that could come in at about $6-8k for the door itself + install.

I love the idea and look of French doors, but we chose a four panel (Anderson) slider that opens from the center to go from our dining area into our sunroom. They may not have quite the charm that French doors do, but when both sides are pulled open from the center they really do open the rooms and allow easy traffic in and out when entertaining - almost like taking a wall down - and best of all there is no lost space in either room. My heart wanted to go with French doors for the feeling they evoked, but my head went with the sliders for practicality. I'm pleased with the look, and I don't regret the decision at all. BTW Ours went in a new build. Much as I love mine, I wouldn't go with sliders if I were restoring a period home.

Frazzlehead: I'm looking at replacing a deteriorated 35 y.o wood 8" French door/sidelights with the same style of patio door opening you mention: 3 panel multi-slider (2 that move and stack over the fixed 3rd). What brand did you choose, do you have a picture of the final outcome and comments on performance? After 4 years, your experience. Thanks in advance

a few years ago I had Wonderful Windows come out and give me a quote. They said they would have to custom make my door. My slider is 9 ft X 8 ft. My house was built in 1978. The slider in our living area is in bad shape. There is another slider in the master bathroom (of all places) right next to the toilet. That one is smaller.

what did you end up doing with your space? I have the same dilemna in my home and trying to decide on one large two panel xo slider or oxxo slider. Would love to see your pics?

They can be made. They aren't cheap, but they are out there.

So do many companies and from what I know of ES I do not think I would want a 6' wide door panel. They are not know as a higher quality company. Builder basic for the most part.
