Looking for a Unique/Odd/Weird Rose
Comments (15)When it comes to freaks my favorite is Imperatrice Fara. It starts off a whitish green and tans red in the parts exposed to sunlight. Every rose is different. They also last supper long so some are green others are both some are much more red. It is a strange and beautiful rose. No sent but special none the less. I have nothing else like it. It lasts longer than any other rose I have. Rosa Here is a link that might be useful:...See MoreNew rose growth looks odd
Comments (6)Looks like the beginning of rose rosette disease (RRD). It is not common in this area but does occur. It is considered to be a virus vectored by a mite but the exact causal agent is still unconfirmed. The symptoms vary widely but reddish, distorted foliage growth (very distinct from common red new growth), congested growth habits and excessive thorniness are all signs. I'd take a clipping into your local extension service for a proper diagnosis as this is both a fatal and very infectious disease. Affected plants should be removed and destroyed promptly. And until diagnosis is confirmed, sterilize your pruners!...See MoreOdd looking stains on rose?
Comments (6)What time of day did you spray your roses? if you did it any time where they were directly in sun or soon to be directly in sun, it can cause these types of stains on the leaves. You live in a very warm climate (like me) and we have to be careful when we spray. I usually spray my roses around sunset time. It gives them the entire evening to dry off before they are in sun the following day. Also the bee's are not out at that time (but the mosquitoes are) so its a double win for me. :)...See Morewhat causes tiny leaves in a rose that should have average leaves?
Comments (4)I've seen this happen on roses close to Multiflora in their breeding, Especially in spring I'll see large leaves , then a cold spell happens and the leaves get much smaller. I've seen similar leaf variations in summer, when I lived in Houston and we had a month with day time highs over 100, the roses that put on new leaves put on much smaller leaves. I thanked them for continuing to put on any leaves at all. Wait for fall optimum growing conditions before you start to worry....See Morehoihoisoi
