blueberries must have acid soil, did you buy a mix for acid loving plants? You say no standing water but they sure look overwatered. they are in decline. Perhaps if you stop watering altogether they might recover, but don't hold your breath. It might be easier to grow in container, is what I do successfully.

I had just lightly watered them before I took the photo. I water once a week. I haven't fertilized with acid type fertilize what do you suggest?

Visit the TAMU site and search fertilizing blueberries, I don't know or use a blueberry specific formula. I use fish emulsion as my all purpose fertilizer, and not very often b/c if you use a good soil to start with shrub will get nutrients from soil. When I asked about acidic mix I was referring to soil. What kind of soil do you have? If not acidic what kind of acidic amendment did you add to the plant hole?

It it is also possible over fertilizing might have burned or damaged roots of your young plants

Do you know the pH of the bed? Unless you're in east Texas or one of the other acidic pockets around the state, fertilizing likely won't make a difference if soil pH can't be kept below 6. Leaf yellowing can also be a sign of chlororis caused by soil that is too alkaline. TAMU does have a lot of good info posted on this. Yep, most of Texas isn't for blueberries. If you have limestone soil, with high pH, you won't be able to acidify it by amending it. Why? Because the groundwater is alkaline too. Everytime you water your plants, you'll be increasing the pH. It's a losing battle.

Thanks everyone. We are in the Houston area. Our PH is 6.7 according to the soil samples we sent to A&M. We are from Louisiana and never had any problems growing them. I think I may dig them up and put in pots to try and control the PH level better.

6.7 should work. Sorry, I just keep coming back to overwatering b/c that is what mine look like when we've had excessive rains. Second sin could be overfertilization, but I cant swear to that one. I used 10 or 15 gal pots with a mix of 1/2 compost and 1/2 peat moss. top dress with peat moss or pine bark mulch ea year to add some "fresh" acidity to soil mix. Even in dead of summer, I water every 3 days, and maybe once weekly at other times. Im in Ft bend Co. SW of Houston

6.7 is way too high for blueberries. They need a pH of 4.5 to 5.5. Some varieties such as sunshine blue may be able to handle up to 6.0. Many areas east of you has a lower pH. I doubt that over fertilizing is the problem, especially since it is lady bug organic. Some chemical fertilizer can burn the plants due to salt buildup.

I have to grow blueberries in pots due to poorly drained (clay) soils. Some people collect rainwater to water the plants or add acid to the irrigation water due to high bicarbonates in the water raising the pH. I do not have to in Beaumont due to the city water being low in bicarbonates. I would think they would be higher in Houston but only guessing.

I add 1 tablespoon of ammonium sulfate (21-0-0) to 2 gallons of water each week in the spring and summer. About once a month I will add Miracle Gro Meracid instead to get the micronutrients. When you water the blueberries water them till water runs out the bottom to help reduce salt buildup.

The plants do look bad and also seem to be planted too close together. You will also need two different varieties that bloom at the same time for pollination. Southern highbush blueberries bloom about a month earlier than rabbiteye.
