Need more cold- anything I need to know about refridgerating?
Comments (7)It may depend on the species. The germination websites seem to have some differing information - Tom Clothier's website says that A. syriaca doesn't need cold stratification and A purpurascens needs 12 weeks, but the Prairie Moon website says they both need 30 days. Not sure? We have at least another month of "refrigerator" cold or colder, especially at night. The fluctuating temperatures outside may help move the stratification process along. Whichever, I'll find out since I winter-sowed 5 species of Ascelpias this winter by February 4th, A. incarnata, tuberosa, syriaca, purpurascens, and variegata. They're all going to get 2-3 months of cold strat whether they need it or not! Comments (17)I also have a 10 month old Havanese puppy. These are sometimes referred to as "velcro" dogs, as their attachment and bond with their human is very strong. They want to be with you constantly and will follow you from room to room, even into the bathroom! They also tend to get stressed out if left alone for extended periods so if you work all day and the dog will be left alone, this is probably not the best breed for you. They can become destructive and psychologically impaired if left alone much. Havanese are also highly intelligent and easy to train. They don't require a lot of exercise but appreciate a good daily romp outside as well as regular walks. And they LOVE toys....of all sorts. Stuffed toys with squeakies, balls, chew toys, tug ropes. And they like them best if YOU play with them with the toy - keep-away, fetch, tug of war. These are wonderful, playful and very affectionate little dogs that want nothing more than to be with their human all the time!! 😊...See Moreneed advice about this fridge
Comments (14)Just wanted to add that it sure sounds like a good deal. We bought an Amana bottom freezer counter depth (but not FD) about 3.5 years ago and I have to tell you that my favorite feature is the pantry drawer! I love it. Also, when I visited my mom recently and she has a new fridge with a top freezer, I realized how much I disliked having to bend over to get to the refridgerator shelves. I guess I get into the freezer less often, so I really like having the fridge on top. Hope it works out for you blackcats. BTW, is this the same house you've been posting about on the old houses forum? I know how excited you were to buy it and how much work you've been putting into that house. If it is the same one, I hope you'll be selling because of something good in your life... Cheers, -Kim...See Moreadvice on refridgerators needed :)
Comments (18)sky, I'll have to ask about the supplements, thanks. I was told specifically NOT to use them in the past (when nursing babies) because they can cause spots on kid's teeth, and weakin them if they get too much. My 11 yr old has some of these spots, and he was the only one of the 4 to get supplements. And oddly enough..the only one that's ever had a cavity. I'm now sitting here with a bit of buyer's remorse. Course, I do that with every purchase. From house, to car. It's really the water feature that's stressing me out. Or, lack there of. I'm tempted to go back, and get a side by side fridge. But, I keep reading how they're less energy effecient, and any problem people have with their side by sides, are with that feature. As far as having the freezer on the bottom, I love the concept. I really honestly don't use my freezer much at all. I can't stand frozen meat, and aside from a few boxes of old waffles, and the summer's left over ice cream cartons, it's usually pretty empty. I would much rather bend down and go through my freezer stuff once a wk, then 5-10 times a day in the fridge. And the pull out shelves seem pretty easy to work with. We'll also keep the old one in the garage. It's just like 10 steps from the kitchen, so it'll be great to have the extra storage. Especially when planning for parties, etc. Thanks everyone!...See MoreItal Mom
