Your link is missing, but anyway, love my FD bottom freezer. I think I like the freezer baskets the most. I can store and organize just as much food as my top freezer fridge held. As long as the dent isn't visible or going to affect the mechanics of the fridge. I say go for it! They do look really nice. just make sure both doors can open (in case you have a corner location).

IF you can get the same warranty and quality as if it were new. Is the dent the only reason for the discount? And, if it doesn't show then I would say do it.

check out the energy efficiency. It qualified as an energy star appliance in 2008 before they upped the standards from 15% to 20%. So still pretty efficient...

I have this fridge (or a very similar one), paid around $1200 for it. Works well, love the FD's, don't love the bottom freezer drawer because it's hard on my back. Ice maker is very noisy. This is a big, chunky looking refrigerator, and if you're buying it to make your kitchen look upscale for resale, make sure it fits well into your kitchen's layout.

caligal - that's exactly what I showed DH last night ;) and I said, see? it's even more efficient then the ones with the ... I forget if it was ice machine or water or something else. But really opened his eyes to what that energy star rating was (just 1 of many tools). And our current one is so old this will be an improvement regardless.

We're going to ask about the warranty and the reason for the discount when we go there tonight. It's from Sears Outlet, which I've heard good things from... I expect (hope) they have documentation as to why it's at the outlet. I'm not worried about the dent so much (as long as it's just cosmetic) since we can hide that easily.

Just wanted to add that it sure sounds like a good deal. We bought an Amana bottom freezer counter depth (but not FD) about 3.5 years ago and I have to tell you that my favorite feature is the pantry drawer! I love it. Also, when I visited my mom recently and she has a new fridge with a top freezer, I realized how much I disliked having to bend over to get to the refridgerator shelves. I guess I get into the freezer less often, so I really like having the fridge on top. Hope it works out for you blackcats.

BTW, is this the same house you've been posting about on the old houses forum? I know how excited you were to buy it and how much work you've been putting into that house. If it is the same one, I hope you'll be selling because of something good in your life... Cheers,

We didn't get that fridge. It had a small dent on the front, a medium scratch on one side and a larger dent on the other side. Also, the drawers didn't slide very well, it didn't feel any better then our current, ancient fridge. Of course, we found another we liked better ... for $180 more, but since the first was already $40 over budget we decided to wait. DH is hoping it will get some more knocked off of it. I think 40% off might be as much as it goes before someone else grabs it, but oh well. Thanks for all the opinions!!

Sometimes waiting really does pay off. We had just decided to get the more expensive fridge. I went to buy it and ... as I was working through the process it dropped to $850!!!!!!!!!! How excited am I?! Now I just need the confirmation email that they found it on the floor and it's ours! Whoo-hoo something finally went right!

Check with your state about the rebates being offered for Energy Star appliance purchases, via. "cash for clunkers". Every little bit of savings helps! I know our state is offering $75 for fridges and all we have to do is mail in a rebate. Your state may be offering similar rebates. It does vary by state. Some states are only offering the rebates on HVAC or other big ticket equipement though.

The samsung RF266AE. When we saw it there wasn't any cosmetic damage, it's bigger, it has a smooth finish and the drawers and everything operated much more smoothly. A quick check also showed good reviews for it! We won't be able to hook up the ice/water part since there aren't water lines on that side of the kitchen, but that just means I don't have to worry about it leaking ;)

Unfortunately our appliance rebate was at the end of April. And they ran out of money the same day!! Our house did come with 2 fridge though, and ComEd is taking 1 of them this weekend and giving us $25 :)
