The Miele cutlery tray is fantastic. So much better than the old basket.

Cutlery trays are excellent, I love the one on my regular height Miele, but I'm not sure I'd be as excited about them if I had an ADA dishwasher. The reason being, with the shorter tub the cutlery rack could restrict the height of what you could put on the upper rack. I'd have to see the Miele ADA unit in person to decide whether or not it would be an issue, though.

What hvtech42 said. Cutlery trays are wonderful .... just not in a standard tub dishwasher. As far as the best ADA dishwasher with price being no object would be the one I have: Miele PG8080i.

The new bosch SGX68 also has a 3rd rack. I would recommend that or the miele units. The ones from GE/Whirlpool/Frigidaire are all poorly built machines.

The Bosch bosch SGX68 isn't ADA but the Bosch SGE68U55UC is. However, it doesn't accept custom panels either.

Sounds like the Miele G 6560 SCVi Lumen might be my best option if I get a dw with a third rack cutlery tray. So the question is if it's worth it to get the third rack and lose the upper rack space.

If I go without the cutlery tray what would you guys consider the best ADA dishwasher that will take a custom panel?

Yes it is expensive and worth every penny. It is also integrated as well; that's what the "i" designation at the end of the model number is all about. Obviously, the control panel will remain visible so if that is problematic, it won't work for you.

I'd recommend the Miele over the Bosch when it comes to regular Euro-height (ADA) tubs. The Miele 3D cutlery tray slides partially out of the way so that stemware can fit into the upper rack; Bosch doesn't have that flexibility even in their best drawer.

Should you hate the cutlery rack, you can still remove it and get a basket.

FYI while Miele describes PG8080i as 'integrated', they describe the ProfiLine PG 8083 SCVi as 'fully-integrated'. ( I guess that's the control panel vs no visible panel.) Seems that 8083 is not listed as ADA compliant, though 8080i is.

A bit of a tangent, but wondering what the water usage on the PG8080i is?When I went to a Miele dealer to look, a salesperson steered away from professional line even though they had one on the floor (though I think it was actually professional 'for the home' PG 8083 SCVi they had on the floor), saying they were quick but much more water usage, and louder. But the loudness is 48 dB (well 49 in USA lol, apparently the Canadian version is quieter??!, see Canadian spec sheet vs US), so I"m not really taking her word as gospel on any other points, as I don't think 48 dB is 'much louder" than my current Classic ((46 dB)? My partner was very put off by the idea of high water usage and won't endorse going with the 8080i in new build if this is truly the case, anyone know about water usage? Spec sheets don't show water usage to my knowledge.

The Miele PG series dishwashers are not comparable to any other residential dishwasher on the market, not even Miele's own standard models.

Water usage is more than a standard modern residential dishwasher, but not a ridiculous amount, and definitely better than an older American dishwasher. Really it consumes very little considering what it can do. It is Energy Star rated, which I believe has a cutoff of under 6 gallons per cycle.

These dishwashers were designed for commercial use, but unlike most commercial dishwashers, can be used in residential applications as well. They can hook up to a 240 volt power supply, and do a whole cycle in 20 minutes. They are also extremely expensive. Unless you need that kind of speed, there is no reason to buy one.

The SGX68 is definitely ADA compliant. Also there is a panel ready variant. That would be the SGV68U53UC.

The PG series is very much as Hvtech describes. Professional and very powerful…but expensive. My understanding is that the 240V unit uses the motor system from their existing commercial line (built for a much longer life span). The 120V units use the same motor as the G6000 series does which is a residential. It however falls under the "commercial" label so it can use more water to achieve better cleaning results.

The reason that the PG 8083 isn't ADA compliant is because it's a "tall-tub" model. While they are indeed expensive, the cost is roughly the same as installing two high-end dishwashers as many consumers nowadays do.

As far as water use, they are VERY economical. ProSpeed and Universal use 4.5 US gallons/cycle. Pots/Pans and Sanitize use the most at a hair over 6 US gallons.

Oh yeah I forgot to say, Asko is another option to look at. Stick with the European brands for ADA dishwashers.

One nice thing about the Bosch ADA dishwashers is that they are made in Germany, whereas you need to step up to more than twice the ADA price to get a German made standard height model.
