KA Dishwasher with cutlery tray - anyone have this?
Comments (23)The extra jets of water feature called proscrub, is a horizontal spray of water for casseroles and large baking pans or dishes propped upright in the rear of the lower rack. Loading things this way, still allows lots of room for dinner plates, salad-soup bowls, saucepans and other items in the lower rack. With other dishwashers I've had that did not have this feature, I would fill the racks quickly because of large items placed face down for good cleaning. The proscrub increases the capacity of the dishwasher with mixed loads and gets crusty pans clean. Very useful in this house. Overall the machine is very quiet, easy to load and cleans great. Comments (38)I just bought a Miele. Glad to hear you still like yours. This thread makes me wonder if I am going to be surprised by the width of it though, which I didn't notice in the store. Is it smaller than the American brands? I have pondered the silverware tray and know that I can always get a basket for some things, like the KitchenAid has. (Yes, Miele sells baskets and I am guessing that even the models with the trays can accept a basket if you want one.) I am tempted to get one, because I find that I use so many utensils for cooking and stirring and there are ones like hand mixers that seemed like they would be too big for the upper tray, but I am not at all sure about that. Mine isn't installed yet, so I will find out, but I look at it as I can get any manufacturers cutlery tray if it fits between the tines and there are some brands who have spacious flexible ones, which I was tempted by, but the quality of the dish washer won....See MoreAnyone have KA superba dishwasher with extra cutlery tray?
Comments (26)Monica, thank you for all your help. I did find an unopened package in the kitchen (I had a new employee here and I just did not notice the package on my kitchen table that had other papers on it about dishwashers that I was analyzing). They never opened the instructions or they would have seen a separate instruction small pamphlet explaining how to install the moisture strip and this was in a separate plastic sealed package inside the sealed instructions. Amazing, Eric from KitchenAid did not tell me about this pamphlet and had no idea that the moisture strip was with the instructions. Also amazing that the installers do not read instructions when installing a new model. I am feeling so sad tonight. Monica due to your gorgeous granite counters with the coloring that I love so much and the black color of the dishwasher, despite the controls showing, it looks right since they are not half showing so it matches and to me looks intentional and pretty. But mine looks like the dishwasher was not closed all the way and the dishwasher is 2" too long for my counter and I feel I should have realized this from my prior posts in measuring but at Karl's (I did not buy from them but he is the one who told me it would fit and explained why and he was so wrong) I was told it would fit perfectly since the hose is under the dishwasher. So I stopped looking at the Bosch that would have fit perfectly. So I guess I will have to live with the lighter shade of stainless that is lighter than my refrigerator, the pretty thicker handle that does not match my LG Refrigerator's much slimmer handle, and the controls showing due to listening to the guy at Karl's when I was questioning if the KitchenAid may not fit all the way in due to the measurements of my counter only being 1/2" longer than the measurements depth of the dishwasher. But my dishwasher is 2" too deep for the space. Maybe one day I will have money to change out the counters but I know I first have to change the 20 year Linoleum kitchen floor, the 20 year old almond colored range and my 20 year old hot water heater so it may be awhile before the kitchen cabinets or the counters can be changed since I have only my income and a high mortgage. It just cost me so much money to install the Brazilian Cherry hardwood floors downstairs and porcelain tile in the two foyers right after last year having to replace the air conditioner/heat/compressor unit that was amazingly very expensive. One day, I would like to have counters the exact color of Monica's....See MoreKitchenAid dishwasher... wish I had gotten the cutlery tray!
Comments (4)Yes indeed. Back off the ledge now... I have the KA with the cutlery tray and I have quite mixed feelings about it. I actually never use it for cutlery (don't want to sit there and sort the cutlery--and my kids would never do that), but it is quite nice for lids, utensils etc. However, with it, you have less clearance for glasses in the top rack and I've broken quite a number by forgetting this! If you lower the glasses rack, then you don't quite have clearance for your biggest plates. So all and all, there has to be quite a bit of thinking about how to arrange the dishwasher--and really, who has time for that! Let it go, and enjoy spending that $100 on something else!...See Moremarkb
