I like it. It is a good start. 2 Comments: -It does not make sense to have those 2 columns up front if that area will not be an usable porch - unless you have french doors instead of a window. -It is not that nice entering the house thru the laundry room. For a house like "this", is not expected. If you agree, this is something that you could do: shift the single garage to align with the kitchen/butler wall. Place the laundry between garage and masterbath, You only need to extend the hall a few feet to reach the laundry. The laundry will have all the windows you want. That also will unify the 2 garages /back entry area and you could have a mud bench/closet/cabinets in the hallway. If you are ok with no windows in the laundry, then you could switch laundry and master closet. The mastercloset will work better next to the bathroom. Either way, you can have a door communicating closet and laundry. I know many people like that possibility.

It seems odd to have the secondary bathroom bump out like that. Why not expand the flanking BR's out to that point? I'd also prefer ONE closet in the study and BR #3 -- one closet with a pair of doors in the middle. That IS an almost-not-there foyer. Could the entry door and front stoop move out a little? Would you like a pair of glass French doors set on the diagonal into the study to widen the foyer? I'd want larger windows than shown on the plan and more on the sides of the house unless you'll stare into another home close by. (Remove the window in a closet!) Is the porch screened? It is too shallow to be of much use as it is. Is it roofed? If you aren't going to use it, why build it? It will shade the interior rooms, if that's its purpose. I'd either deepen the porch or skip it and enlarge the family room and kitchen. Can you fit furniture into the family room, leaving space for 'walkway' between it and the study? I like the space you have between the garage and the house proper. This would be my 'back hall' -- where all sorts of 'stuff' stays instead of coming into the house. (Hooks for coats; place for shoes; big closet for all that junk i buy at Costco, mops, brooms, the central vac hose, etc.) This is a really nice plan. I do wonder if the 'public spaces' are large enough for what amounts to a 4 BR home.

Cedar, if you decide to move the kitchen to the other side of the ell, here's something that may interest you. The kitchen could be configured a few different ways, even to incorporate a small peninsula, yet you would need to move the refrigerator location to do this and it may not be as open as you'd like. It could also be done with the doors to the washer/dryer area in the kitchen, with the powder room separate - it's just a matter of preference. As for your earlier comment saying that you didn't think two closets were necessary for the master bedroom, let me urge you to reconsider!! Closet space is ALWAYS desirable, and only six feet of hanging space for a married couple is just not adequate! Think about resale, too, and what features other people would expect in a home this size. I put a 6' slider in the dining room to the screen porch. You could do that or french doors, and that would serve as your porch access. Have fun with this and tell us what you think.

I would switch the closet and shower in plan 2. That way the closet is close to the bedroom and you don't have to go all the way through the bathroom to get there. It would be opposite the vanity. It would also have the shower plumbing closer to the tub so that might be a tiny bit easier/cheaper? I don't think a toilet room is necessary. Possibly if you are sharing the bathroom with children or other household members. But if it's your master bathroom I feel like it's a nice to have not a need to have. We also repurposed an unused bedroom for a master closet and I have no regrets.
