Opinions on good street trees? Bay Area
Comments (19)An update for my street trees situation! I decided on the Chinese fringe tree, and had a site visit from the city of San Jose..... And they said I can plant three small canopy trees like this, but also, I have to redo my cement driveway approach, grind three parts of sidewalk, and replace 48 square feet of sidewalk, by march- or I get a bill from the city for $1500. Also they are fining the neighbors in both sides for planting without a permit, non approved trees- one has to take out a mature hedge, the other has to take out some cherries. Both have to fix their sidewalks and driveways and replace the trees also. I guess that's what I get for going the legal route ! Next time I will just ask for forgiveness rather than permission. There goes my kids piano lessons for the rest of the year, into the flipping sidewalk that was here when we bought the place and passed a stringent FHA inspection. Thanks city of San Jose!'...See MoreStreet Scenes - Add Yours Here
Comments (16)Pam....Yes I bet they mean Philadelphia cream cheese as well, seeing as it sounds like that's in a starter section of the menu which looks like bruchetta, translated into English. Guess we'll just have to go there and try it out. I can't imagine what they mean by American sauce but since they are French, it could mean anything they imagine Americans use LOL. We almost went in there today as we were out walking and wanted to have a late lunch after doing some errands nearby. The place is very pretty inside with white linen, lots of fresh flowers everywhere, good glassware etc. Wolf is interested to try this place because they have duck paté as well as duck breast so we may go soon to try out the small starters or dinner crepes. I've heard that the food is very good. And if we do I'll certain find out what is 'American sauce.' Pam and Gina it's true that any photos of another place are interesting to those who don't live there so please do add or take pictures of what you may consider humdrum or boring: a rusty gate latch, a pile of snow against a patio chair, rain on a window etc. can turn out as beautiful photos. I think one secret to good photos is to stop looking at the big picture and start zeroing in on single small details because they too tell a story, often better than a panorama. Comments (67)Look. This is all subjective. If you sew, you know what can be done for what. You know the market where you are. You know, (WELL!) the clearance section of your local fabric store. And you know the costs of diy vs ready made. Some of us have more time than money and some of us enjoy getting custom for ready-made. Everyone's different, folks. For me, I do enjoy it and I have the time and I will not waste because that's not the right way to live in the world. Occasionally I am forced to get something off the shelf, but I make sure that I can't make it for less, first. Sometimes I do buy from Ikea (in fact I will be for my family room as I'm not looking for anything specific for this room)...I think it's a great resource for large quantities of drapes for very little...but your choices are limited there. jmho...See MoreLighting fixtures / window treatment to add privacy from street
