I just shut down the computer and rebooted and again the list that I selected in the preference for ABP is gone and the message says I have not selected anything.

It used to be the case that when a user installed Adblock Plus, they had to manually add a filter subscription(Easylist was suggested). At some point in time, Adblock Plus started adding the subscription automatically. You should not have had to add Easylist, it should have been done for you.

Is it possible that you accidentally removed it?

Easylist is a huge list of filters(rules) that tell Adblock Plus how to work(what to block).

To re-add the Easylist subscription, go into filter preferences, click "Add filter subscription...", and select "Easylist(or Easylist (English), and click "Add". It should look similar to this:

After you add the Easylist subscription, you shouldn't have to do anything to keep it in the list. If it keeps disappearing, something unusual is going on.

every time today I have to re add it. I can't read your preference list. Mine all said the same easy list. If I clicked on the action arrow the other selections were the Easy list but in maybe 25 other languages.

Its a pain to have to click on the ABP each time of starting up the computer and having to turn it back on.

The only thing on the preference page bottom left is back up and restore. I wonder if I am to click there to have this saved? I thinking no.

I am wondering if I don't donate $5.00 for this if any filters I add will not stay in the preference page after selecting them. Therefore, when I select the list preference it will not stay after I log off of Firefox.

I'm not sure then. No way should you have to do that. That is not normal, but what's causing it, I don't know.

Maybe someone else knows what might cause filter subscriptions to disappear. I do not.

No, you don't have to donate. Especially not when it's not even working properly. :)

If you give up on Adblock Plus(not saying you should just yet), but if you do, you might try "Ublock Origin": https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/

I've always used Adblock Plus and love it but recently(because of a security video I watched) decided to test Ublock Origin. It uses the same "Easylist" filter subscription as "Adblock Plus" and a couple others. Seems to work fine.

If you do decide to try it, remove disable(or remove) Adblock Plus first, else it might slow your browser down.

Yes, hopefully someone else can help you determine the cause. I might suspect some sort of conflict with either another extension, or security software, but don't really know.
