OT: I am on a bulb ordering roll!
Comments (12)Thanks everyone and I do think my garden should look even nicer during next springs bulb season what with my new will be additions. AS far as planting goes, that is why I plot my new bulb additions now in the spring and order early. If I actually waited till Fall, I wouldn't get them as I think about the work of planting them too much. Getting them now forces me to deal with the planting when they arrive in the fall. I forgot to say when I wrote this post that The Becks order was a good deal because they have $25.00 off is you order more than $50.00 which I did. So I think I got a bargain! And I am still very excited about those Firespray tulips. was thinking lots about them last night....See MoreAm I crazy to substitute regular shelves for roll outs in cabinet
Comments (23)Drawers in everything that I could. Pullouts everywhere I couldn't (aside from uppers that were 14" deep), which was in my pantry. Yes, a pullout is an extra step as opposed to a drawer. But, when comparing shelves vs. pullouts, pullouts are infinitely more functional to get the things in the back. If it wouldn't have been such a budget killer, instead of my pantry being 30" wide with wide pullouts, I would have instead did pullouts that were half the width - but that would have doubled the number of glides and pullout drawers and would have been horrible for the budget. You might lose a bit due to the pullout itself, but you "gain" back real usable space at the back portion of the rollout that would be rather unusable in a deep cabinet. I saw someone who had a 30" pantry and just had shelves in there - WAY less usable space overall than what I have....See MoreBegging for professional help! I am totally lost!
Comments (10)Every color (OK, just to be safe-almost every color) can look amazing when decorated around and styled. I had so many yellow walls in my current place when I moved in-I made it work everywhere (but the master bedroom when the light was different and that very same yellow looked too dark, and drove me crazy until I repainted it). I suggest you live with it a little bit and then decide whether to repaint, where, and to what. I don't know where you live but here we were quoted 5000 paint job for the room with ceilings like yours, and it was several years ago. And you really need a pro for the height like this...ladders and all. You can pick a bit different shade for the kitchen if it bugs you already-it will still flow nicely even if it's different and more neutral..just be mindful of the undertone of that neutral so it doesn't clash with gold everywhere else. I have paler yellow with deeper yellow accents in living and dining, and more calmer and neutral tan in the family room-they work together quite well. The plan is partially open, so all colors are seen at once. These windows are really really cool. Do you plan to leave the build in next to them? I think it interferes a bit with their awesomeness so to say....See MoreTrying to decide on a rug for my living room but I am totally lost.
Comments (3)olychick has some good recommendations. You need warmth and color in this room. Try esale.rugs or rugsUSA and see what speaks to you. Allow yourself to embrace color, which is also current right now, but do it for the reason that it gives warmth and life to a room. Find pillows and art that are colorful, and then go on to buy a glass coffee table that will showcase the rug and side tables with lamps to cast warm light on your pretty room....See MoreKitch4me
