I use Firefox predominantly, but also have Safari and Chrome on my dock for easy access.

I use Safari and haven't had any problems. Just upgraded the OS to Yosemite, which I really like.

I use chrome...safari is back up should I need it.

I resisted switching to Chrome for ages. Now I don't remember what it was like before. I miss the way you could customize the old Yahoo landing page, but time marches on and I'm over that too.

I used Firefox with my Macbook for years because I was not happy with Safari. Recently I decided to give Safari another chance, and I have to say that I it has greatly improved and seems to meet all my online needs. As far as finding things, I'm assuming you are referring to the search engine you are using (Google, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, Bing, etc.) and not the browser (Safari, Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc.). If that is what you mean, you can easily change the default search engine that Safari uses when you type a topic into the address bar. To make this change, simply go to Preferences in Safari, which is found in the dropdown menu under Safari, as in the dropdown you use to quit the app. You have the choice of 4 or 5 search engines you can choose from. My thinking is that for most instances, Safari is going to be the best browser to use, simply because it was created explicitly for use on a Mac. But as some of the other responses indicate, I too keep a couple of other browsers in my dock should I run into any issues with Safari, which is my default browser. The default browser-the one that opens any random links you might click on when you are not online, and can also be easily changed in System Preferences. Sorry if this is way too basic for you... I've been using Firefox for years, with free Adblock Plus. Love. Safari stays on my doc since our county website won't work with Firefox. For search engines I used Yahoo (old dog) and Google for maps or directions.

I use Safari with Google as my default search engine. Works fine for my needs. I have Firefox too but haven't used it more than a few times.

No problems with Safari on this MacBook Pro. In the past, very rarely, I had problems accessing/downloading programs from some sites, something that was solved by switching to Firefox. (My husband said that this was due to "issues" that some web designers had with Safari at the time.) Hasn't been a problem lately and, in general, I prefer Safari to Firefox.

Yes, the new version of Mac Mail is something of a pain. Loves to merge those emails, whether they should be merged or not. For example, as a consultant, I work for multiple accounts for one large public agency and Mac Mail insists on merging two chains of emails from separate accounts at that agency that really have nothing to do with each other. Very confusing and annoying I haven't yet figured out how to get it to knock it off.

lol castpa. I feel for you. I set my Outlook email at work a while back to see conversations and then couldn't find things. Emails with the subject "Software" (I am an administrator for several of our computer programs and get emails about them regularly) were all thrown together. How stupid. If it doesn't know which emails are really connected what's the point? I turned the feature off. Hope you can figure out how to do that on Mac Mail.

Safari experienced issues with some of my work needs, and so on the advice of my employers' tech support teams, I switched to Firefox for work. I've never had any issues with Firefox. I actually prefer the way it displays toolbar pages.

For specific reasons related to having to clear my browser history daily with Firefox because my work sites "compete" and get wonky, I use Safari for my personal use like Sirius XM and other general browsing. It seems fine.

For me, the difference was applications in the workplace. In these cases, the tech support team focuses on specific workarounds with specific browsers, and so you'll know then.

I'm slowing immersing myself in Apple culture and as Beagles pointed out it is great to have the ability to sync all my favorites on all 3 devices.

I didn't realize until Mobjack explained it that I could switch my search engine. Your post certainly wasn't too basic for me. I checked the Settings and Google is the search engine. I may try Bing or Yahoo and see if my search success rate is improved. I never, ever had to even think about that with my PC's.
