Are you planning any window treatments? And what else is on that planned accent wall? Just looking at the room, it seems to me that the natural focus wall would be the fireplace wall or perhaps the wall with all the windows.

I think no on the accent wall altogether. The fireplace and windows provide enough architecture interest for the room already. You could bring that turquoise color in with window treatments. It will be lovely!

I thought it was a great idea until I saw the wall in question. The room is quite asymmetrical as far as doors, windows, and fireplace placement, and one accent wall would add to that chaos. Instead, I would concentrate on trying to bring order and symmetry with colors and furnishings. The colors you're using are beautiful and restful, and I'd add a creamy white for the trim and do a less rustic wood mantel in the same white. You may even want to dab thinned out white paint on the orange red bricks of your fireplace to give it a more muted palette.

Love your rug and the curtains soccermom posted above, especially that first color! That same turquoise could be incorporated in a club chair, or leather ottomans, etc.. What sofa will go in that room?

No accent wall. I'm not a fan of them anyway, but I think your space lends itself to a calming neutral on the walls and punches of color in your accessories as others have suggested. Very pretty room you have there.

I like accent walls, but agree not for your room. I would paint the fireplace the same color as the walls and get your turquoise in with accessories, art, etc.

Re the TV over the mantle -- will that be up too high to view from down below? I hate aching my neck to look up long periods of time. Just a thought.

Thanks, everyone! I love the first curtain, too! We changed our minds about TV above the mantel -- we are going to make the long wall to the left of the fireplace the TV wall.

With all those big beautiful windows, this room kind of reminds me of a sunroom. That makes me wonder if a very light turquoise might look nice on the ceiling.

Before you go and get the pillar candles, ask yourself if you love them. If not, take a look at other sites for inspiration for mantel styling. I will say that if you paint the fireplace to coordinate with the wall (either the same color or maybe a few shades deeper) then it will open up more design possibilities.
