What color accent wall should I choose?

I am trying to decide of an accent wall to go with the light mocha brown paint color we've decided on for our house. One of the accent walls will be a main wall that is in the dining room and kitchen. The other area will be the entryway. My furniture is all dark brown. My rugs/pillows/dining room chair colors in these areas generally are blue/yellow/orange. I would be okay with a cool wallpaper too. Ignore the blue and white tablecloth on the table. That's usually not there so don't worry about finding a color that would clash with it. Thank you!

I think a large piece of art would be abetter choice . Is there a reason you went with that boring wall color with all the browns you have.

Ha ha. We were keeping most of the walls that "boring" color and then adding accent walls with something brighter to pop.

Kathy, you have been given excellent advice in each of the above comments To find a color in the same basic hue, check the paler colors on the color chart for SW 6223; if you want a coordinating color, ask for that info at your paint store. Given that this is a north facing room please be sure you want a cool color like blue as opposed to a warmer color such as a warm cream,yellow or even a soft pink color.

You might want to look up early 1900s color schemes from the Arts&Crafts movement - aka Craftsman or Mission style (sorta).C... just for inspiration, you wouldnt have to go full-blown A&C in your decor or anything. What you have in mind sounds very sympatico. Those styles all were a reaction from the stuffy fussy Victorian era, and emphasized natural materials like stone and wood and took inspiration from colors from nature. You know - you do have quite a nice color scheme already picked for you in your stone work. Do you like that stone? Im seeing some nice blue grays, browns, gold-browns and the mortar beige of course.

Stone is beautiful in part because of it's variation in tone which gets completely obliterated with paint. In my personal opinion, painted stone fireplaces generally look cheap or dated. Instead I would recommend trying a greige/taupe wall paint color that is more harmonious with the stone of the fireplace and the warmer carpet color. Additionally, you can always repaint the painted walls if you don't like the color, but you can't really go back once you ruin stone with paint.

I'm not a big fan of accent walls, feeling that they tend to create a choppy look, whereas a whole-house color provides a much more cohesive flow. Would you consider adding artwork instead of accenting with a different color paint?

I think you have a lovely home, and those stairs are fabulous!

Like Miss Ida, I'm not really an accent wall person, either, lol... But if you really love 'em, then I'd go with a navy color on all of them, assuming that it's navy that I see on both of your rugs and on those gorgeous stair riser tiles. <3
