Well.....Signs of Spring Out the Door??
Comments (33)Larry, we are still in a drought here in OKC. The nice thing about snow is, altho it doesn't equal as much moisture as one would think (is it 10:1?), when it melts, it soaks in at a slower rate, and the ground actually gets more moisture than a hard rain, a lot of which runs off. Dawn, if we had a sustained cold, we would have probably had more plant damage. The ground is still warm, too. I don't know how the trees were affected, but plants lower to the ground were affected very little, if at all. You are absolutely right, Dawn, the GCs get a lot more attention. They grow faster than my plants, and I don't want to miss a moment in time. OT: The death of Whitney Houston this weekend, is just another reminder of how short life is. I was truly saddened by events. Her music got me thru a very difficult time in my life back in the 80s and I was a great admirer of her. Larry, I signed up for your Facebook page, but I'm not very good about posting. I will definitely read it, though, and thank you for friending me! Comments (12)unfortunately no Mike it could be enemies or those frienimies that once were friends and are no longer, often times they would do things like that simply because they can and they know it would be upsetting. Those people likely would not honor a request to please not do that. Or people that just get off on being A-holes they seem to be abundant. Also some people have been in groups or clubs etc and are no longer part of them, pictures of groups end up and not everyone in the group pic said it was ok to plaster their image every where. In fact I have been in pictures as a by stander and found my pic, had no idea it was there was never asked to be in a picture or to have it posted. Used to they had to ask permission to use your pictures and get signed release forms. Not to mention just being the polite thing to do. the thing about facebook is the opt out feature not opt in which makes if a bit different ballgame....See MoreDoes Facebook track my credit card?
Comments (51)Houzz tracks you pretty nearly as much as facebook, you know. That's one of the main reasons so many old gardenwebbers didn't come over. And just like facebook, merely going to a page on the site even if you don't sign up gives you the tracking cookies. I suspect for some of you, you might have read a thread about things here rather on facebook. ETA And google does, too. Most of you may not realize that even if you don't do a google search for something, if you go to a page with any google feature embedded in it, like a page that uses google analytics, or has a google searchbox for the site itself, or has any youtube embedded content, even if you don't click on the google stuff, you get tracked by google ever after unless you remove the cookies. As a matter of fact, in many browsers, even if you don't actually go to a site like that and have removed the cookies, you will still get them back if you start to type a similar URL. You know the convenient way your browser remembers the URL and starts to autocomplete it for you? The site is being pre-loaded in the background even if you're actually going to a different site with a similar name. To avoid that, in safari on a mac, go to the preferences>privacy and turn on "Do not load the top hit in the background." Not sure where it is in chrome and safari. If you don't like this, use ghostery, delete your cookies after visiting sites, use any private browsing function available, and check out disconnect.me for your phone. However, if you are using Windows 10, as a system it tracks every move you make on its own and there's not much you can do about that. Earlier versions of windows give the option to turn things off....See MoreBlank pages on my Facebook
Comments (7)Available space on your hard drive shouldn't have anything to do with it, unless maybe you were down to almost zero. I'm not a Facebook user but kinda, sorta understand how it works. If you go to one of your friends' page or to the page of a company does the same thing happen? If it's only happening on the "selling" page then I'd suspect it's something with how that page is set up or there's a bug on Facebook's end. If it's happening everywhere, then I'd be thinking something like Flash or Java. Do you use any kind of ad blocker extension or Ghostery?...See MoreTexas_Gem
