Putting a Face to a Name
Comments (27)Hi hornetwife, Thanks, I will also pass the kind words to my dog. I am not looking for fruit from this tree till at least another year and a half. Although it is grafted, it is pretty young and I need to get the tree a little more established and stronger before I get fruit. Assuming we have a mild winter, if not I will have to protect it from frost. Take care and Happy Holidays, everyone!!...See MoreFaces to Names....?
Comments (98)If it was in Calif (d-land) I would agree with Dave that it is a katie. I live not too far from Anaheim and Nebels here is quite yellow and the red/pink fades a day after opening. However, in Florida (d-world) the humidity could make it either very easily. This just shows how difficult it is to id from a picture and that if you do not know the parent, we are just guessing anyway. My Katie has not bloomed yet so I do not know what it will look like in this area. Bill Nebels rainbow (note faded pink on flowers in the back):...See MoreShortening user names...
Comments (36)I like using whatever moniker people list, as long as it's quick and easy to type. Too many letters and numbers that don't "click" in my brain or long, drawn out names, stress me out when trying to remember and type them. I get them transposed too much of the time and worry about insulting the poster. That's why I'll always try and remember a person's given name, if they do post it. I imagine that this is the main reason why people try and shorten a poster's moniker, too. Personally, I like just being called by my given name, Lynn, and in retrospect, wish I would have picked the simpler "LynnNM" instead of "Lynninnewmexico". I wish I could change it! Funny thing, though, I'm almost always referred to here as Lynne (with an "e") for some reason. It doesn't bother me a bit. I'm just thankful for the wonderful people on this forum with good advice, great pics and good (& forgiving!) senses of humor! And I'll try to call you whatever you prefer. Comments (14)I, of course, had heard a lot of references to Facebook. They all pertained to how great it was to reconnect with friends and family. I didn't know there were "hidden" mysteries that came with it. So I joined up, and right away found some relatives that would be good to hear from. I began to realize I was also gaining "friends" I never heard of. I have no idea who most of those friends are. As I said before, I think Facebook should come with a tutorial. A lot of the terms are not self-explanatory. I googled and learned a few tid-bits here and there. One was the use of the Hide button, but that only works on the Home page, not the page of a Friend. So there is no way to my knowledge to remove something from another's page. Seems like there should be, it is MY Facebook. Anyway, I have gone in and removed every name except my nieces and nephews. I left X, because I don't have the heart to delete him. I know that if he did do the quiz, and doesn't want to admit it after seeing the result, that he had no idea what would have come of taking the quiz. And that the "F" word would be blasted on that page in BIG red letters on a black background. Facebook should be ashamed. I didn't join Facebook looking for games to play or quizzes to take. My purpose was to locate and reconnect with family. For that I think Facebook will be fine. It is much better than emailing. If anything similar happens again, I will give it up completely. Thanks for helping me through this. Sue...See Moremamapinky0
