Heirloom Roses Annual Summer Sale - Anyone Going?
Comments (8)Yay! Yes, I went and what a great time. Just love going and seeing all of roses at a cheaper price. Only wish that I had gone first thing this morning for better selection. Oh, and I can never get out of there without buying a couple at regular price. I bought an Austin, Happy Child to place in a container and the Impressionist which I was most excited about. This is their top selling Clements rose and it is much like an Austin, fragrant and gorgeous. Didn't think that it would be in the 1/2 offers. My husband came with me and he was trying to be Mister Macho telling me that he didn't really have much input about the rose garden (when we arrived there were more women there). . .blah, blah, blah--when all of sudden he spots a beautiful Eden (Pierre de Ronsard) growing on an archway. Next thing I know he's in the rose house picking the best one he could find at full price. It is a beautiful rose, so much more attractive than its pictures. One thing that I didn't know about Heirloom is that they have a lot more roses for sale than are in their catalog. I have been researching roses that do well in rain and someone told me about Rosarium Uetersen and I hadn't been able to locate it. Heirloom had some!! Have to go back and really go through everything -- take my time. Then I'll be even more broke and have to find more room in my garden for roses. Comments (27)Hi Everyone! I was on Heirloom Roses site for several hours and I am champing at the bit to order the 2 I fell in love with; Morning Has Broken and Frau Karl Druschki. But I've got to wait till the first of the month.....payday...POOP!! Oh I was truley pitiful in my begging but I still have to wait! Heirloom Roses was the one place I found the love of my life(besides my husband, of course..) and that would be Lynn Anderson Hybrid Tea. Look it up! It's breath taking and it does VERY well during the winter with snow getting to about 3' high (I live in zone 8) If for some reason the roses I want aren't available be- cause I waited......SOMEBODY.....will hear about it and hear about and hear about it! Wish I could get alot more!!...See MoreBooty from Heirloom's Sale
Comments (13)Marleah, I would LOVE PHM! Need any Iris? I have a lot of Tall Bearded dark chocolate, and a variety of Heirloom tall beard-eds. Also check my list to see if you would like any of my roses. (Non-patented of course!) Will be gone for a week starting tomorrow for vacation. I didn't see the sign while I was at the sale. Mr. Clements' introduced some very special and beautiful roses. I always enjoyed reading his comments in all of the Heirloom Catalogs. His love for roses was very evident. I was lucky enough to get some really old catalogs at the sale. They are packed full with descriptions and pictures of Old Garden Roses. They were all spread out on the table at the sale for taking. He will be missed. Condolences to the Heirloom Roses Family....See MorePhotos Needed -- National Heirloom Expo Sale
Comments (13)Hi, Jeri, life is good. Last year and this I was so busy my garden was really neglected, but everything survived the neglect and deer browsing. I've gone back to reading here sometimes; nice to hear about everyone's gardens. Its been so sunny here this summer even Lady Hillingdon has bloomed. Gentle Annie was a present from Kim and bloomed well for the first time. I just ran down to check and the last bloom is dropping its petals. I'll have to check to see if I have a pic or not. I'm pretty sure I have one of Gilda, Marie pavie is no problem, it's a steady prolific bloomer, of course. I still think about the parent plant of your General Gallieni from my Alabama garden, what a great rose. So glad yours is doing well! Gean...See Moreozmelodye
