Comments (28)debnj3, The Wegman's near me in Manalapan is in an uproar right now. They have managed to spend at least 3 weeks, at this point, to rearrange just about EVERY SINGLE AISLE in the store. There are people with yellow T-shirts and lists attempted to assist shoppers in finding where everything has gone ...and not particularly successfully, either. The prices on nuts and "grains" (couscous, quinoa, etc) are much cheaper in TJs than Wegmans, but I do find Wegman's prices are lower than most of the other local markets. The Pathmark nearest me in Marlboro closed in October. I heard about the Top Tomato today, too. I have one near me in Freehold, but I haven't been impressed with their veggies and fruits. I actually like Livotis, on 34 in Aberdeen, for fruits, veggies and herbs. Sushipup - the LS organic red pepper and tomato soup is wonderful, too. Helene...See MoreTrader Joe's
Comments (22)We,(including DH, who is very picky about coffee beans)love their Bay Area coffee. It comes in a big royal blue canister, like the Quaker Oats original oatmeal package. My latest find (and current addiction..) is their Dried Baby Sweet Pineapple which comes in a 6 oz. foil package. Bought it for my little step-grand who loves pineapple, but keep eating it myself. DH & I both keep a bag of the 50% Less Salt/Dry Roasted & Salted Mixed Nuts in our cars. It's a delicious mix of cashews, almonds, macadamias & pistachios. Having just one handful of them when I'm coming home from a long day has often kept me from unhealthy drive-thru & empty calorie foods. We love their Spanish Extra Virgin Olive Oil (bottle has a tree on the label w. / robin's egg blue leaves). As the label says, it has a Fruity Flavor. Hints of Almond. Slightly Bitter, Sweet & Spicy. I never buy bottled salad dressing and like using this as a base for my homemade ones, as well as in cooking. I confess, I'm a snob when it comes to store-bought cookies. But, based on recommendations found here, I bought a container of their chocolate covered "Oreo-type" cookies (I think they're called Jo-Jo's..) OMG! They are so good. The cookies themselves are chocolatey and flavorful, the creme tastes like real vanilla and isn't like the dry white paste in the "O" cookies, and the dark chocolate that they're covered with is sooo good. I have actually served them to company after a nice meal. Those are a few of our favorites - most discovered here on CF. And don't forget the 1000 Layer Crackers!...See MoreTrader Joe's top products of 2010
Comments (16)I tried the Chicken Tikka Masala on my last trip and have to say it was pretty darned tasty! I will be stocking up on that next trip. The pumpkin ice cream is really, really good but we bought the decadent chocolate ice cream....*swoon*. I enjoy a lot of their seasonal products and wish some of them would be regulars (that's right....put those truffles out all year round!!). My list of likes at TJ is pretty long (and some of it is on that Chowhound link). I only buy their frozen veggies any more (mostly haricort verts, roasted sweet corn, brocolli) and various frozen stuff (mushroom turnovers!!). There are definately some misses as well but I won't go into that here. Tastes are very personal....See MoreTime for an Update? Favorites from Trader Joe's &/or Costco
Comments (55)Another vote for the Orange Muscat Champagne Vinegar here -- I don't even need olive oil with it and have used it straight on some of my salads. It has just a touch of sweetness and is mild enough that you can do that if you want -- especially with a salad tat has a protein and fruit in the summer. This time of year, butternut squash mac and cheese makes a brief appearance. It is better than the plain, I wish they had it year round. I am going to have to figure out a similar homemade version. It isn't something I eat very often, but it sure can hit the spot. My son always has the hatch mac and cheese in his freezer -- it's pretty good too. The butternut has a noticeable amount of black pepper, but neither should be too spicy for anyone not on a bland diet. IMO (in TX but not a total pepper head) My dogs love the pumpkin dog biscuits (and all the others too), but the oldest has been diagnosed with kidney disease and we are working on diet changes for them. If you see a little foil pouch with a red top near the checkout that is dark chocolate almond toffee bites, you might want to try one. Simple thing -- garlic and shallots. Better at TJ's than the grocery and we were getting CJ Ranch from Gilroy, CA garlic and we prefer that. Kalamata Olive Oil -- we just like the flavor. I am going to have to look for the pears. I bet I missed them if they are gone in Louisiana now. Costco -- always for meats, rotisserie chicken, organic unbleached flour, wine and fruit, vanilla beans this time of year, ciabatta rolls, and another vote for multi grain chips and the Charisma and no-name towels. I bought a bundle of the wash cloths to try as single use hand towels in my powder room -- almost too thick to put out as many as I would like at once, but playing with the fold/roll options. If you have't tried one, I'll make a plug for the Amope foot file and the deals they have at Costco (bundle and sometimes a coupon special), The new wet/dry one is a drastic improvement -- never used it wet, but love the two speeds and the fact that it doesn't eat up disposable batteries. Hard to remember what we have been buying there -- the other things that come to mind are the office supplies, kitchen organizers and things we have gotten for the son who graduated and just started teaching. And tires for my car. Oh -- for your own car or a holiday gift -- this https://www.costco.com/Lithium-Jump-Starter-Portable-Power-Bank-with-Brush-Metal-Finish.product.100383979.html...See Morebbstx
