3 week old Kitchen Aid Fridge needs a new Fan Motor
Comments (18)Well, KA will replace (or refund) if the appliance cannot be repaired--but it sounds like a fan motor is something that can be repaired, albeit with a replacement part. OP, I guess my real reason for posting is that having had three of these refrigerators come through my door within 6 months or so, coupled with the fact that this refrigerator is a new model for KA, makes my DH and I wonder if all the bugs weren't quite worked out before it went out on the market. As far as your OTR microwave fan coming on while you were cooking, I know that is a feature some regular range hoods have. Because I knew I wanted to "control" my vent hood, I rejected hoods with those automatic sensors....See MorePhiladelphia Pre-Pope Week (#6)
Comments (79)Momof2 (another early riser, eh?) - I don't know how much longer. I'm anticipating another... 3ish weeks? Things got delayed early on, and I think the time has now gone into the schedule where my contractor has other jobs started - he'd anticipated being done with me by now - so I'm not getting him & his guys every day.. I'm hoping that countertops will go in end of next week - but the following week might be more likely. I think the sink will go in a few days after that - maybe when sink goes in, DW will & range, too. That's when I'll have a functional kitchen. Other than that, there some finishing work & electric to be done. The backsplash, I think will wait until the end, pretty much. Also, there's exterior work to be done. I need a new set of steps built for that back yard, and new door needs stucco (or whatever) added around it. I think that builder guy is coming sometime next week to work on the steps. I am so thrilled with my kitchen! Even if I don't really get to use it, I sit on my couch and just gaze at it....See MoreWill this look too odd, island design?
Comments (41)Thanks, Lisa. I do plan on going over all the sizes with her. Mostly to make sure my pot and pans will fit. The rest is all gravy, really. Here is my old layout Starting at the fridge. 2 20 in uppers. I only used the bottom shelves for baking supplies, flour sugar, baking soda, etc. I'm not tall. 2 lowers with 8 inch pullouts and drawers. One drawer was for junk, the other had my measuring cups and spoons. The pullouts were useless. I ended up removing one and putting my Panini press in there sideways, because it wouldn't fit in the pantry nicely. The other I kept the hand mixer, bread pans, flour sifter, etc. This was my baking area, where it says "hole in wall". Next was 2 30 in pullouts. That held all my plastic storage, mixing bowls, glass cookware. I've gotten rid of most of the plastic and traded it for glass. I don't have close to the amount of storage containers that I had when this started. Next is the corner cabinet and lazy susan. Used neither. The corner upper cabinet was too deep, stuff would get shoved back and I couldn't reach it. I hate lazy susans. It held 2 jars of peanut butter, seriously. 30 inch upper that held all our dishes and glasses on the 2 lower shelves. The lower is a drawer base. It holds towels, foil, ziplocks, etc. Dishwasher and 20 inch upper. The upper was protein mixes on lower shelf. 5.5 inch open lower cabinet for cookie sheets. sink A divided 30 inch lower with 2 12 in drawers and 2 12 inch pullouts. Pans on the bottom shelf and one pullout. Lids on the other pullout. Utensils and knives in one drawer. Spices in the other range 2 oddly shaped cabinets, upper and lower. Upper was too small to put anything in. Lower was used for grill stuff. Pantry was also problematic. Small appliances top shelf. Pastas, pasta sauces, a few canned goods, popcorn, oatmeal, steel oats, etc. In conclusion (lol), I don't have a lot of fancy kitchen stuff to store. And, much of my old kitchen was a waste of space. I'm pretty sure that I've accounted for everything in the new kitchen, plus some. But, again, I'll go over everything with her. And, I'm sure she will tell me if something is screwed up. When I first went in there with my rough draft, she thought I wanted floating shelving surrounding the refrigerator. She came right out and said it was a stupid idea and it wouldn't work as a pantry. Then, we both realized we were misunderstanding each other and got on the same page. She won't pull any punches....See MoreKitchen pros - what cabinet lines are 3-4 weeks out?
Comments (14)Shiloh is 4-6 weeks. Medallion is at 11 weeks with the holidays. It's my longest lead time right now. I ordered a Medallion Silverline kitchen on Oct. 21 and it won't be in until first week of January 2021. Kraftmaid is around 6 weeks. I'm sure with the holidays, your builder will experience many delays....so just get them ordered....get what you want and figure, they'll probably sit in a warehouse for a few weeks regardless. Builders are notorious for that! Hurry! Hurry! Order now!!!! But when they arrive, they always ask me how long can I warehouse them. Ughhhhh!...See Morenumbersjunkie
