Washable entrance mats??
Comments (8)How large a rug? I use machine washable rugs on each side of the door to the garage and have found Target has some durable ones. I also have some washable rugs from BedBathBeyond but after 6 months they're starting to leave residue in the washer/dryer....what a mess. The rug looks fine but some part of the latex backing is breaking down. Another store to check is Costco but color choices will be limited....See MoreMuddling with Mudroom Design/Decor
Comments (26)lishaana - Beautiful space, and I love the built-ins! Your cabinetry is actually very similar to ours, and I like how it is just part of the house. Our wall space is shorter than yours, but I'm sure something could still be done with it. I just thought it would be prohibitively expensive. Are those drawers or tilt-outs on the bottom? aunttomichael - Sawdust City ships very reasonably, and that's an important consideration too. They make a bench that looks a lot like the PB bench with storage underneath. bronwynsmom - I think I'm interested in the rugs for their decorative purposes too. I don't want high-maintenance though. oakleyok - I like the dark cushion too, with the white bench. Without having custom made, I'm wondering if the whites would look close but not close enough or something. Jan...See MoreWalk-in wardrobe/mudroom at house front entrance?
Comments (12)Heavens................ Show the entire first floor please? Lets see ALL the functions, if you will. Without seeing that? Don't attempt a "mudroom " clutter of shoes hooks at the front/guest door. Seems a very bad idea. You don't need the space? Some simple framing, combining the two as is or even a bit of a bump to include a bench, would give you best of all worlds. Leaving an attractive foyer in place. Walk of mats are essential entering any home, either entrance. ............CARRY!!!!!!!!! shoes where we will not see them please, The door to the formerly "useless" room can simply be removed Make a walk in closet appropriate to a front entry. .............and make a reading nook, a desk space to deal with mail. Whatever you like, for the remainder of the room. Just don't turn the entire room to a walk in closet There may be OTHER SOLUTIONS, BUT WE ARE SEEING A SMALL PORTION. of the living floor I am beyond sick to death of a shoe /hook pile coats, hoodies flip flops at entries, simply because folks end up with every shoe they own in the traffic path. It is hideous and unwelcoming to all. Even you. Take a few steps onto a rug, and stow the street gear. No matter the climate. Close the door too : ) Now, lets se the rest, before you say it's a bad idea?...See Moremudroom floor- hardwood or stone?
Comments (21)@HU-173242354 I disagree on that blanket statement that engineered wood floors can withstand more abuse than site finished wood floors. So many variables to consider in the quality of wood used, type of finish, wear layer, etc. I love wood floors, but I still wouldn't place a site finished or engineered version in a mudroom entry used by kids and dogs. And definitely not if you live in rainy and snowy climates. In a less used formal foyer ... definitely. To complicate things even more, you can also buy engineered wood planks that are finished on site like solid wood floors. I still wouldn't use that version in a mudroom....See MoreUser
